LEGO 2016 Sets Now Available on Shop@Home

January 2016 LEGO Store Calendar

Happy New Year, at least for the people on the east coast. It’s January 2016 over there and that means a plethora of new LEGO sets are now available for purchase on Shop@Home. This also includes exclusives like the LEGO Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters (75827)icon, the LEGO Creator Brick Bank (10251)icon, and all the sets from the new LEGO Nexo Knightsicon theme. Also, don’t forget the new wave of LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakensicon sets are also available. There is also the LEGO Nexo Knights promotion from now until January 10 in which you get a free Nexo Knights Intro Pack (5004388) with every purchase, while supplies last. Also go check out all the other promos and events that will be happening in January on my previous post.

Keep in mind that Shop@Home is a little wonky at the beginning of the month so you may have to retry a few times to get items into your shopping cart. Clearing your browser cache helps out with that.

The Brick Fan Top 10 LEGO Reviews in 2015

Earlier today, I did a post on the top 10 LEGO posts on the site for 2015. Readers also asked about the most viewed reviews I’ve done this year. There have been over 600 sets that have been released this year and I’ve reviewed around 80 of them, ranging from various themes like Creator to staples like Star Wars and Super Heroes. Note that I do have a lot of sets that I’ve purchased but haven’t had time to build and review like the SHIELD Helicarrier and Doctor Who, just to name a few.

1. LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens Millennium Falcon (75105)

The Millennium Falcon is very similar to the 2011 version but with some subtle changes. It is also one of my favorite sets of the year.

2. LEGO 2015 Seasonal Holiday Exclusive Gingerbread House (40139)

The Gingerbread House was the second Christmas exclusive set that was available at LEGO Brand Stores and on Shop@Home during Black Friday weekend. A neat little set with some great details.

3. LEGO Creator Ferrari F40 (10248)

The Ferrari F40 is an iconic car that LEGO has very successfully made into a smaller scale. This set is a great display piece for any car enthusiast.

4. LEGO Seasonal Holiday Christmas Train (40138)

The first seasonal Christmas promotional set for 2015 was the Christmas Train which was a neat little set, especially since it’s larger than last year’s Christmas sets.

5. LEGO Ideas WALL·E (21303)

When LEGO first announced WALL·E, I knew it was an instant set to … Continue

The Brick Fan Top 10 LEGO Posts in 2015

Today is the last day of 2015 which means that best of lists are popping up all over the internet. I’ve gotten a few requests from avid readers regarding some of the “best of” things from The Brick Fan.

First off is the most viewed posts from this year and since I love statistics, this was a no-brainer. A majority of you guys really liked seeing what’s in store for 2016 in regards to set names and images as well as LEGO exclusive sets. There’s also that little April Fools joke that had the LEGO community buzzing for a little bit.

1. LEGO 2016 Official Set Images (Partial)

A lot of the LEGO fansites had the images up for a short time but LEGO requested they be taken down even though they were official images.

2. LEGO Bringing Back Retired Modular Buildings With New Revival Theme

Ahh the good ol April Fools Day joke that got a lot of people excited but also broke a lot of hearts. The fake press release that I conjured up really made it sound official but I’m sure some people saw past it. I have no idea if joke had any impact on LEGO actually re-releasing this year’s Winter Toy Shop (10249).

3. LEGO 2015 Advent Calendars Available for Pre-Order on Amazon

Many people took heed of this post for this year’s LEGO Advent Calendars back in August. It wasn’t a surprise since they are very popular and sold out a few months after they were released.

4. First Look

Bricks Magazine Issue 8 Press Release

Bricks Magazine Issue 8

Happy New Year from Bricks Magazine

January is the time for exciting new LEGO sets and 2016 is no exception

The best thing about a new year is new LEGO sets. It may be a time to make a fresh start or celebrate new beginnings, but when that clock strikes midnight on 31 December it means we have a whole new wave of sets in our grasp.

Bricks Magazine Issue 8

The 2016 line-up looks impressive: NINJAGO is taking to the skies, City has a great new island prison and the intergalactic craziness of NEXO KNIGHTS boasts some great new pieces. Alongside all these store releases we have two massive exclusives available in the form of the Ghostbusters fire station and the very impressive Brick Bank Modular.

Bricks Magazine Issue 8

Inspired by these vast buildings, this month at Bricks we are wandering into the world of all things urban. Starting with the Brick Bank, Mark and Dr Dave examine this modular floor by floor, leaving no tile unturned. Packed full of new elements and great colour pieces, this new offering looks set to be a winner. Chris Pearce investigates the latest 2016 sets and highlights what we should be looking forward to most. Alongside this there are amazing custom builds in the form of Janet VanD’s theatre, Patrick Bosman’s piece of historic Holland and Jamie Douglas’ twin-roofed Brickadilly station.

Bricks Magazine Issue 8

As it’s a new year we have some great new series starting. Huw Millington hits the rails and starts his journey aboard on LEGO trains while our new technique master, Luke Hutchinson, begins his

The LEGO Ideas Third 2015 Review deadline for projects getting 10,000 supporters is coming to an end in a few a days. You have until midnight Monday, January 4, Billund time to gather supporters for a particular project. There are currently six projects that qualify for the Third 2015 Review Stage including the Jurassic Park Explorer, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea Nautilus, the Toyota Landcruiser 40 Series, the Beatles Yellow Submarine, the HMS Beagle, and Apollo 11 Saturn-V with a couple more that could potentially join the fray if they get enough support.

LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens First Order General (5004406) Minifigure Polybag First Look

LEGO Star Wars First Order General (5004406)

There will be a new promotion over at Toys R Us Hong Kong starting in a few days and in their ad, we get our first look at the new LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens First Order General (5004406) minifigure polybag which I first talked about this minifigure earlier this month. It’s hard to see but the minifigure looks pretty similar to General Hux from Kylo Ren’s Command Shuttle (75104)icon but without the sideburns. I’m not sure if there are any other differences between the two at this time as the image is quite small. This polybag will supposedly be here in the US sometime in 2016. Clickthrough the image to see a larger version. Thanks to XiaoKeung for emailing in about this.

Update: There is now a clearer image of the First Order General (5004406) via Brickset. As suspected, it is pretty much a generic general.

LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens Summer 2016 Set Names

It’s never too early for details on summer 2016 LEGO sets but Just2Good and his “insider” is back with a new video regarding some upcoming LEGO Star Wars sets. There will be at least two more sets based on The Force Awakens movie which are “Encounter on Jakku” and the “Resistance X-Wing”.

There are some spoilers in the video so I won’t discuss any of that if you haven’t seen the movie yet but I do have a clue on what one of the sets will look like. For the Resistance X-Wing set, I’m going to assume that it’ll look like the one from the Series 3 Microfighters set but in a larger scale. How large will it be? I’m not sure but hopefully around the same size as Poe’s X-Wing Fighter (75102)icon but in the blue and gray/white color scheme. Feel free to discuss below but no spoilers please and if you haven’t seen the movie yet, avoid watching the stuff after 15 seconds.
