It seems that I never announced the winners of some of the LEGO contests that I had running the past couple of weeks. The first is for a complete set of Series 15 LEGO Collectible Minifigures (71011) which goes to:
The other contest was for the LEGO Seasonal Iconic Easter (5004468) minifigure and that one goes to:
Arrangements have already been made to get the items to the winners. Also remember that voting is still going for a few more days on for the LEGO Architecture Building Contest which is turning to be a very close contest. If you haven’t checked it out yet, head over to the post and have a look.
Since I haven’t done a giveaway in a while and I have some extras of the LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 15 (71011), here’s your chance to win a complete set of them. The contest will start today and will run for two weeks until midnight April 1, 2016. There will be one winner and it will be drawn shortly after the contest is over.
I’m trying a different giveaway app to see if it works a bit better than the one I’ve used before. If you’ve entered other contests before, the rules are pretty similar to before.
**Thank you to the LEGO ARP Team for providing the minifigures for the giveaway. Prize will be mailed by me.**
The Series 15 LEGO Collectible Minifigures (71011) have been available worldwide for a while now and I’ve finally had time to do my review on it. Ever since I started collecting them back in Series 6, they’ve been getting better and better each series. Let’s see if Series 15 can live up to the hype when the official images came out.
If you haven’t purchased any of the Series 15 LEGO Collectible Minifigures (71011) yet and if there are stores around you that are selling them, you might want to pick them up or be cautious about them. As per a report over on Reddit, there’s some sort of recall on them for whatever reason. Speculation from some is that it might be a legal issue caused by the Shark Guy who looks very similar to the Left and Right Shark from the Super Bowl XLIX Halftime Show last year. Some others think it’s just a recall because there are some issues with minifigures themselves or with their accessories like getting multiple torsos and no legs while some are getting multiples of a certain accessory.
If you look on [email protected], they’re already marked as sold out which is strange considering they were just released last month here in the US. Was this part of this whole recall thing or was it just a coincidence and they happened to sell out quickly. So far, it seems that is happening only in North America. As of this point, there is no official word from LEGO but I’ll keep you updated if there’s any news on it. If you picked up some of Series 15, did you have any quality control issues with them?
Update: Kim from the LAN has posted:
Just to be clear – we have not done a recall in 6 years and if we did, I am quite confident we’d all know.
There may be other issues that would warrant a temporary stop for distribution, but recalls are different: https://wwwsecure.us.lego.com/en-us/service/product-recalls?domainredir=service.lego.com
There is no IP claim with the Shark Guy – he was designed long before it became a costume with an uncoordinated dancer in it.
I almost totally forgot about this but last Christmas, I did a contest to giveaway the last set of the Series 14 LEGO Collectible Minifigures (71010). The contest has been over for a few days and the winner of them is:
Chris B. – Branson, MO
Again, these minifigures were provided by the LEGO AFOL Relations & Programs Team and hopefully for this year I’ll have different styled contests, like building ones, to give away to the readers which allows you to show off your work to the community.
If you’ve been waiting for the Series 15 LEGO Collectible Minifigures (71011) to be released on February 1st, you may want to check out Target stores. I’ve gotten a few messages from readers who have found them in stores and are able to purchase them without being blocked at the registers while paying for them. YMMV on that but it’s worth checking out. Of course if you’re in other parts of the world, they’ve already been released in the beginning of the year.

LEGO has announced it yet but in the latest LEGO Club Magazine, there’s a little blurb about the release date of the Series 15 Collectible Minifigures (71011). As you can see below, Series 15 will be available in February along with the Series 7 LEGO Mixels, most likely on February 1st. I know people have been wondering and asking about it since they were revealed a few weeks ago. They’ve usually had a January release the past few years but LEGO has some huge releases next month including the LEGO Nexo Knights, LEGO Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters (75827), the Brick Bank modular building, and the rest of the winter wave sets. I have a feeling that LEGO wanted to save something for February and not overwhelm everyone next month. For people across the pond, [email protected] UK has Series 15 with a January release.
Thanks to everyone who emailed/tagged me on this piece of info.
