Rumored 2015 LEGO Sets Including Brand New Theme?

There’s some interesting news coming out of the Brickset Forums yesterday. A user by the name of iso3200 who first talked about the upcoming LEGO Creator Detective’s Office (10246) modular building back in June is back with more rumors for 2015.

First up is a follow-up set to the LEGO Creator Fairground Mixer (10244) which would be a Ferris Wheel type set. This set could be added next to the Fairground Mixer to create a carnival type setting. They also speculate that it could easily attach a motor to it much like the Mixer.

The second rumor for 2015 is a brand new theme. Iso3200 states that it will “be loosely a follow-up/replacement/similar to Monster Fighters.” They also says it will have a retro feel and very kid friendly and “not very zombie.”

Some people are speculating that it could be a Ghostbusters theme while others are thinking it could be a Scooby-Doo theme considering that both are retro. I believe Character Building has the licence for Scooby-Doo minifigures and was extended in 2012. I’m not sure if the license has expired yet or will be expiring much like what happened with Doctor Who.

The Ghostbusters reboot movie has been pretty much green-lighted and will probably start filming early next year. Plus LEGO has already released a Ghostbusters set with Ecto-1 (21108) so it might be easier to bring more sets in.

All the rumors above seem fairly vague and I’m guessing they could be released next summer. As with all LEGO rumors, take them with a grain of salt but the user seems pretty confident in reporting it and was correct on the Detective’s Office modular. What are your thoughts on these 2015 sets?

BrickPicker Announces LEGO Set Review Contest

Our friends over at BrickPicker has announced a LEGO set review contest over on their site with a chance to win some great prizes. All you have to do is write some quality reviews of LEGO sets. The contests starts today and ends on July 3rd, 2013 at 11:59pm (Eastern Time). There are some guidelines that are required for you to be entered in the contest. The reviews have to be a total of 1000 characters combined in the following categories:

  • First Impression(WOW Factor) & Introduction
  • Unique Parts/Minifigures
  • Playability/Build Experience
  • Value for money(new)
  • Theme Popularity
  • Exclusivity
  • Packaging
  • Growth Potential
  • Display Attributes
  • Final Analysis & Conclusion

The Brickpoints system has also been overhauled for this contest. A normal 1000 character review will get you 10 Brickpoints but you can earn 500 points for more in-depth, detailed reviews. All reviews will be approved or disapproved by Ed or Jeff and you will be able to revise and resubmit them if they are disapproved.

Now to the goodies! There are some really nice prizes for the winners of the contest.

1st Place: Monster Fighters Haunted House (10228) or $200 LEGO Gift Card
2nd Place: Creator Expert Palace Cinema (10232) or $150 LEGO Gift Card
Star Wars Jabba’s Palace (9516) or $100 LEGO Gift Card

There are also four (4) $25 LEGO Gift Cards given to exceptional reviews which are then converted for the Evaluation Corner. For these special reviews, a single person can win them all so there’s more incentive to write quality reviews. To read more about the details of the contest, head over to the BrickPicker forum.
