The Target exclusive The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital HD combo pack is now available for purchase online and will be available in stores when they open in the morning. This version of the movie is priced at $25.99 and will include the Bard the Bowman minifigure as well as the exclusive Bain minifigure and also has free shipping to go along with it.
The Bard the Bowman minifigure was previously a SDCC 2014 exclusive and subsequently in the The Battle of Five Armies (79017) set. This version of Bain has him without a coat and the torso is brand new only for this combo pack.
It’s almost been a year since the LEGO The Hobbit Video Game was released which included the first two films in The Hobbit trilogy with An Unexpected Journey and Desolation of Smaug. Many fans have been waiting for a DLC for The Battle of Five Armies to complete the trilogy and TT Games has been pretty mum on whether or not a DLC would even be coming out.
Gamespot today has confirmed with Warner Bros. that there will not be a DLC for the third movie. There are also no plans for a completely new game based on The Battle of Five Armies. Below is Warner Bros. full statement on the issue:
“The LEGO The Hobbit videogame gives LEGO and Middle-earth fans a fun, new way to experience the legendary adventures of Bilbo and company as told in the first two films of Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit trilogy. The game provides an excellent set-up for the concluding chapter of Peter Jackson’s film, The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies. There are no plans to develop DLC based on the final film of the trilogy.”
It was stated unofficially last year at the London Toy Fair that the final part of the trilogy would come as a DLC that would need to be created. Time went by and fans have been asking when the DLC would be coming. I had no answer as there was nothing announced for it. Time when by and questions kept coming in with no response until today.
So there you have it. I’m pretty sure fans will be outraged about this and it will no doubt put a smudge on a pretty much a clean reputation for TT Games in regards to LEGO video games and their content. I’m actually surprised that Warner Bros. and TT Games would leave the game uncompleted like that as it just leaves the LEGO The Hobbit Video Game on a cliff-hanger with no ending.
We now have the official release date for the Target exclusive The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital HD combo pack. Four weeks from now on Tuesday, March 24 you can get your hands on the final movie in The Hobbit trilogy which also includes the Bard the Bowman minifigure as well as the exclusive Bain minifigure as well. The price on the combo pack is $25.99 and you can pro-order online which qualifies for free shipping.
As we guessed earlier this month, the LEGO The Hobbit Bain variant minifigure that was found will be included in the Target Exclusive Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital HD combo pack. Not only do you get that minifigure, you also get the not-very-exclusive Bard the Bowman minifigure that was previously from San Diego Comic Con 2014 and is now in the The Battle of Five Armies (79017) set.
You can now pre-order The Hobbit: BOFA Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital HD on Target’s website for $26.99. These type of movie promo sets usually sell out pretty quickly so get your orders in if you want to guarantee yourself a copy. There’s no release date yet on the movie but I believe it’ll be sometime this spring.
It looks like the LEGO The Hobbit theme may be finished but there’s still one more minifigure that will be available this year. Over on a listing on TaoBao, there is an image of a new minifigure variant of Bain. If my speculation is correct, the minifigure will most likely be a Target exclusive for The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies Blu-Ray/DVD Combo Pack that will be available in a few month. Before we’ve seen Target Blu-Ray exclusive minifigures with Bilbo Baggins in An Unexpected Journey and Legolas Greenleaf in The Desolation of Smaug.
This version of Bain is a little different from the one in the Attack on Lake-town (79016) set. Although it is disappointing that we get another version of Bain instead of other unreleased characters but LEGO The Hobbit completionists will probably want to pick it up.

Starting today, Toys R Us is having a 2 day sale on select LEGO products. The first deal is a 2 for $5 on the Series 12 LEGO Collectible Minifigures (71007). Basically you are saving $3 for every two that you buy which is a pretty good deal considering that they go for $3.99 each. This is an in-store only offer. As you can see from the image above, TRU stores are stocking a whole lot of them. I can personally say that I put out six brand new boxes so if you’re in San Diego and are still looking for them, the La Mesa TRU has them.
The other notable LEGO sale is $15 off for select LEGO Lord of the Rings and LEGO The Hobbit sets including the Lake-town Chase (79013), An Unexpected Gathering (79003), Pirate Ship Ambush (79008), and Battle at the Black Gate (79007). These are pretty good deals for sets that are soon to be retired. This offer is valid for online and in stores.
Thanks to Stephen for the heads up.
Amazon will be having a Lightning Sale today at 5:30pm PST for the LEGO The Hobbit Dol Guldur Ambush (79011). It is already currently on sale for $15.99 but it will go even lower than that when the sale happens in about two hours. Amazon Prime members will be able to purchase the set at 4:50pm before the general public will be able to get it. If you haven’t picked up this set yet, this will probably be a good time to do so at a very good price. Thanks to Joseph for emailing this in.
