LEGO Lord of the Rings The Tower of Orthanc (10237) VIP Release Date
Brick Fanatics is reporting that the LEGO Lord of the Rings Tower of Orthanc (10237) will have an early release date for LEGO VIP members. Registered VIP members will be able to purchase the set on June 17th at LEGO brand stores as well as on Shop@Home. The official release of the Tower will be on July 1st. LEGO Lord of the Rings UCS The Tower of Orthanc (10237) Revealed
LEGO has officially revealed the newest LEGO Lord of the Rings set in Portugal, the long awaited UCS The Tower of Orthanc (10237). The set contains 2359 pieces and will retail for $199.99 and will be available in July. This new Ultimate Collector Series LOTR set comes with 5 minifigures: Saruman, Grima Wormtongue, Gandalf the Gry, an Uruk-hai, and an Orc Pitmaster. It will also have a buildable Ent figure as well the Great Eagle which is also in the Battle At The Black Gate (79007) set. More Hi-Res LEGO Lord of the Rings Summer 2013 Set Images
The other two LEGO Lord of the Rings Summer 2013 sets now have hi-res images courtesy of World of Games. Along with be released in June along with the Battle at the Black Gates (79007) and the Pirate Ship Ambush (79008).
The Wizard Battle (79005) – $12.99
The Wizard Battle contains 113 pieces and includes 2 minifigures: Gandalf the Grey and Saruman. This is the fourth set to have Gandalf the Grey minifigure but this one will not have a cape or his wizard’s hat. This set will also include the Palantír Seeing-Stone.
The Council of Elrond (79006) – $29.99
The Council of Elrond will have 243 pieces and include 4 minifigures: Elrond, Arwen, Frodo Baggins, and Gimli. This variant of Elrond is different than the one we got from the polybag.
LEGO Lord of the Rings Summer 2013 Hi-Res Images
GRogall over on Eurobricks has posted some high resolution images of the LEGO Lord of the Rings Battle at the Black Gate (79007) as well as the Pirate Ship Ambush (79008). The sets are expected to be released sometime in June or July.
Battle at the Black Gate (79007)
The Battle at the Black gate contains 656 pieces and contains 5 minifigures: Aragorn, Gandalf the White, the Mouth of Sauron, and 2 Mordor Orcs. The set also includes a Great Eagle. The Black Gate features a locking mechanism that holds the two gates together.
Pirate Ship Ambush (79008)
The Pirate Ship Ambush contains 756 pieces and has a whopping 9 minifigures: Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, King of the Dead, 2 different Soldiers of the Dead, a Pirate of Umbar (Peter Jackson anyone?), and 2 Mordor Orcs. The set also has a nice-looking brick built catapult.

LEGO Lord of the Rings 2013 Minifigures Leaked
An image of the new LEGO Lord of the Rings minifigures for the 2013 sets have been leaked on the very popular site, Reddit. The image is marked “Confidential” so we won’t be posting or linking to the page but if you do some digging, you can probably find it. What I can tell you is that there are 20 new minifigures for the 2013 sets including the long-waited Gandalf the White and the Mouth of Sauron. There is also a minifigure called Pirate of Umbar which is the character that Peter Jackson did the cameo for. You can see that minifig in our post of the Pirate Ship Ambush here.
