LEGO brand stores as well as Shop@Home is currently having a deal going on for the LEGO DC Universe Super Heroes Jor-El Minifigure Polybag (5001623). From June 1st to June 25th, while supplies last, you can get it for FREE with a purchase of $75 or more.
The polybag contains five pieces. The cape is not protected by any cardboard. The design of Jor-El looks very similar to Superman with some subtle differences. The whole costume is a little bit darker blue than his son’s. However, the “S” emblem on the middle of the chest is of brown. His cape is also brown colored instead of the red that superman has. Jor-El has a single-sided head with a serious expression. He has a full beard that is brown and grey. The hairpiece is also brown.
The Jor-El minifigure is a very nice addition to any LEGO collection. Although the design is similar to Superman, the differences he has makes him a unique minifigure. Again, the minifigure is a bonus exclusive when you spend over $75 at LEGO stores and Shop@Home. The summer wave sets of many LEGO themes have been released so it can be pretty easy to get a couple of the polybags.
GameTrailers has got exclusive demo gameplay footage of LEGO Marvel Super Heroes during E3 2013. In the video, Arthur Parsons, Game Director at TT Games, shows us parts of the Asgard stage as well as the character change screen. From what I can see, there are 21 different characters out of over 100 that are playable including Iron Man Mark I, Deadpool, Magneto, and Venom. The Human Torch can even do his “Flame On” move if you like. Each of the playable characters will be able to do their own abilities so you can get the whole Marvel experience out of the game.
It was also announced that LEGO Marvel Super Heroes will available for the PlayStation 4 as well as the Xbox One when the new systems come out. More characters will be announced by TT Games bit by bit as the game gets closer to the release so there will be surprises awaiting you when you play the game. As I see more and more footage of the game, I just can’t wait until October rolls by so I play it.
Marvel and The LEGO Group will team up to create variant covers in LEGO form. There will be over twenty comics that will feature Marvel heroes as LEGO minifigures. Leo Castellani, Christopher Jones, and Adam DeKracker will be the artists that will be illustrating the comics’ variant covers that will be available this September.

“Working with the folks at The LEGO Group to do these homage covers is an absolute blast! As soon as we came up with the concept of doing the covers, I couldn’t wait to get an idea off the ground that really does justice to both the Marvel heroes and the LEGO brand,” explained David Gabriel, SVP of Sales, Print & Digital. “This program is the best blend of both worlds and we know it will really excite our fans and hope that Lego fans also find their way into comic shops to pick these up!”
The Electronic Entertainment Expo is going at full force right now at Los Angeles and Warner Brothers has released the official trailer for the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes video game. We’ve seen some short gameplay footage in the past few weeks, but here we can see new footage of characters we haven’t seen before including Mr. Fantastic and Deadpool, There’s also a nice closeup of Bruce Banner turning into the Hulk which is awesome looking! Players will visit many key locations in the Marvel Universe while playing the game including Stark Tower, Asteroid M, a Hydra base, and the X-Mansion.
The game is will be released this October and will be available on the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Vita, Nintendo Wii U, DS, 3DS, and PC. Just a reminder, the Iron Patriot minifigure will be a FREE pre-order bonus from Walmart for console systems only.
As we get closer to the release of the new LEGO Marvel Super Heroes video game, more images and videos from the developers have been released. TT Games has recently shot some new gameplay footage in the Asgard level. In the video, there are some new characters being played including Wolverine, Captain America, Thor, and Human Torch. If you remember, the first gameplay video showed Iron Man, Hulk, and Spider-Man defending Grand Central Station in New York City against the Abomination and the Sandman.
The game will feature more than 100 playable characters across the Marvel Universe with each character having their own special abilities. There are also hundreds of alternative costumes that you can unlock for the characters.
The game is now available for pre-order and if you get it from Walmart, you’ll get an Iron Patriot minifigure as a bonus. The offer is only valid on platform systems so handheld owners, you’re out of luck there. Amazon and GameStop also have pre-order bonuses but they aren’t as good the Iron Patriot minifigure.
With the impending release of the Man of Steel movie this month, LEGO has decided to create sets based on the movie. Here we have the LEGO DC Universe Superman: Metropolis Showdown (76002). This set has 119 pieces and retails for $12.99, a $0.11/piece ratio. It is the smallest of the three Man of Steel sets that were released. The box contains two unnumbered bags, two instruction booklets, and a couple of loose pieces. We weren’t sure why a set so small had two instruction booklets when LEGO could’ve fit it all in one booklet.
The LEGO DC Universe Super Heroes Jor-El Polybag (5001623) is now available as a FREE exclusive with purchases of $75 or more on all orders at LEGO brand stores as well as on Shop@Home until June 25th. That’s right, all orders! Anything you purchase that equals $75 or more will qualify you for the polybag. Along with the minifigure, you’ll also get FREE shipping on your orders.
