LEGO Disney Princess Rapunzel's Market Visit (30116) Polybag

For you polybag hunters, you’ll be glad to know that the LEGO Disney Princess Rapunzel’s Market Visit (30116) polybag has been found at Walmart stores by our friend Joe Meno for $3.99 each. The polybag consists of 37 pieces and includes the Rapunzel mini-doll from Tangled. The set also has a market stand that sells flowers and a croissant. Some stores may or may not have these polybags so your mileage may vary. Thanks to Joe for the update.

March 2014 LEGO Store and Shop@Home Promotions Now Available

LEGO DC Universe/Comics Martian Manhunter

It is now March 1st on the east coast and that means that the new promotions at LEGO Stores and on Shop@Home have now started. The main exclusive for this month is the LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Martian Manhunter minifigure that is given away for purchases of $75 or more. Also, all of the new sets from various themes are now available such as Star Wars and Super Heroes. Also, The LEGO Movie MetalBeard’s Sea Cow (70810) is now available for individuals who are not VIP Members. Check out what LEGO has to offer in the calendar below.

Doctor Who Galore on LEGO CUUSOO

A few days ago, we reported that LEGO CUUSOO has changed their License Conflicts and Resolutions and have begun accepting projects based on Doctor Who. Whovians who are also fans of LEGO can now rejoice as it may seem that there could be an official Doctor Who set released sometime in the future. Since the announcement, there have been a myriad of projects that have already been submitted to CUUSOO. Check out all the projects and show your support if you like what you see. If you also have an idea that could be worthy of the number of supporters needed, then feel free to submit your project and perhaps your idea could be the one that gets to 10,000 supporters first!

Mattel Agrees to Purchase Mega Brands Inc for $460 Million

Reuters is reporting that Mattel Inc., the world’s number 1 toymaker, has agreed to purchase Mega Brands Inc. for around $460 million. Mega Brands, who makes Mega Bloks, has been trying to compete in the in the construction toys segment for many years but has dominated by The LEGO Group. Mattel hopes this acquisition can help the brand better compete in the building blocks industry. They already create a number of different types of toys and may have more licences at their disposal. A couple of things that LEGO has an advantage on is quality and consumer loyalty which is why they are the world’s leading construction toy manufacturer. LEGO April 2014 Store Calendar Details

LEGO April 2014 Calendar

Images of the LEGO April 2014 store is now available and there are some cool stuff happening throughout the month. Here’s a list of some of the notable things that is going on in April.

  • LEGO Double VIP Points is back from April 1-15. You can earn $5 for every $50 you spend.
  • Free Stephanie’s Bakery Stand (30113) polybag with any LEOO Friends purchase. This offer is valid from April 1-20, while supplies last.
  • The Monthly Mini Model Build on Tuesday, April 1st is a pretty nice looking helicopter.
  • From April 7-30, visit your local LEGO Store and you can take a picture with LEGO Marvel Super Heroes. Share your photo using #LEGOStore to receive a Marvel Super Heroes poster.
  • On April 17, there will be a LEGO Minifigure Speed Build Challenge at the LEGO Store. The fastest builder can win a Build a Minifigure 3 Pack.
  • Also listed on the calendar is Philly Brick Fest. We’ve been helping promote the event and it will be happening on April 26-27.
  • There are a couple of LEGO Store openings during the month. On April 4-6, celebrate the grand opening at Danbury Fair in Connecticut. On April 25-27, the Fashion Show Mall in Las Vegas will also be holding an opening.
  • There are also two LEGO Club Meetings during the month which hasn’t happened before for the Super Heroes line. This time it will feature LEGO Marvel Super Heroes on the 19th and on the 26th. Kids can get a cool classic Electro t-shirt when they attend.

LEGO Legends of Chima Online Now Available on iOS

Back in August of last year, the LEGO Legends of Chima Online game hit the beta stage and players could sign up to try out the game. The game is a free action adventure MMO where you can team up with friends to defend the world of Chima. The browser-based game was available to play on Windows or Mac but Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment today has announced that the game is now available for Apple iOS devices including iPad, iPhone, and iTouch on iTunes.

The LEGO Group 2013 Annual Report Results

The LEGO Group has completed their 2013 Annual Report with CEO Jørgen Vig Knudstorp sharing details about the company’s growth last year. The LEGO Group had its 9th straight year of organic growth and increased their sales by 11% which outpreformed the traditional toy market. The overall revenue by the company has quadrupled over the past 10 years. LEGO has seen main growth in Poland, Germany, and China which in turn helped their sales numbers. Legends of Chima was one of the best selling themes for LEGO last year and the Friends theme was one of the top 5 themes. LEGO City, Star Wars, and DUPLO rounded out the top 5 themes of 2013. The Friends line also seen double digit growth along with some of the core themes including City, Creator, DUPLO, and Technic. With all of the various sets that LEGO releases every year, the company is meticulous in following industry standards and as a result, there have been no product recalls for the 4th straight year.

LEGO has also invested in themselves including DKK 2.6 billion in facilities in Mexico, Czech Republic, Hungary, and China. More facilities equal more responsibilities and The LEGO Group has enrolled in the WWF Climate Savers program in which they are 1st in the industry. They have improved energy efficiency by 30% since 2009 and employee injuries have reduced by 40% since 2009.
