LEGO Ideas Exo Suit (21109) and Research Institute (21110) Now Available

LEGO Ideas Exo Suit (21109)

The time is now here and the new LEGO Ideas Exo Suit (21109) is now available on Shop@Home. It probably won’t sell out on the first day but LEGO Designer Mark Stafford has hinted that the set is currently a single production run so don’t wait on getting it if you plan to.

LEGO Ideas Research Institute (21110)

The LEGO Ideas Research Institute (21110), which is somewhat overshadowed by the popularity of the Exo Suit is also now available on Shop@Home.

Remember that there are a few promos that LEGO will be having in August including the free LEGO Creator MINI Cooper Mini Model Polybag (40109) with purchases of $99 or more. If the LEGO Ideas sets last until August 25th, you can also get the free LEGO Legends of Chima Worriz’ Fire Bike Polybag (30265) with purchases of $50 or more. Check out all the other things that is going on for August on the LEGO Store Calendar.

Update: The Exo Suit is already out of stock on Shop@Home and it will ship in 30 days. It was also listed on Target’s website but it’s also sold out. Finally, Toys R US has it listed sold in stores for $24.99 but YMMV.

LEGO BIONICLE 2015 Almost Confirmed?

News coming out of Brickipedia this evening is that the return of LEGO BIONICLE is pretty much now confirmed. When you do a search for the term “bionicle” on Shop@Home, it takes you to a “Coming Soon” page which tells you to check back later for more information. LEGO usually puts that placeholder for upcoming releases of new sets.

Earlier this month, we reported that there was a rumored list of 13 sets that will be released in 2015. Another thing that may confirm the return of LEGO BIONICLE is a leaked image that was posted on Groove Bricks of the sets in question. What are your guys’ thoughts on this piece of information? Is anyone excited for the return of LEGO BIONICLE after a couple of years hiatus?

Thanks to George over on Twitter for the heads up.

LEGO Guardians of the Galaxy Trailer #2 by Antonio Toscano

Friday marks the premiere of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy in theaters and over the past weekend while I was at San Diego Comic Con 2014, Antonio Toscano posted a new video of the GotG trailer that he has created on our Facebook Page. Like many of his other videos, Antonio has recreated the second Guardians of the Galaxy trailer done entirely in LEGO. Check out the video below and make sure to subscribe to his channel to see more of his cool videos. As usual, he has done a pretty good job on it with the sets that are now available. Check out both versions of the trailer below and see the close similarities both have to each other.

San Diego Comic Con 2014 LEGO Recap

SDCC 2014 LEGO Booth

San Diego Comic Con 2014 came and went just like that. Four days filled with lots of things to see and do. Although I did lots of other things that wasn’t related to LEGO, I’m going to stick with the LEGO stuff in this post since this is what I’m here for.

One of the coolest things that I experienced there was not at the LEGO booth itself, but meeting people in the LEGO community. I got to finally meet Will from Hoth Bricks and Lim from neoape. It was cool to finally put a face to some of the fellow LEGO bloggers out there. I also got to reconnect with Joe Meno from BrickJournal, Tommy Williamson from BrickNerd, as well as some friends from SandLUG like Tommy and Charlie. I even ran into TT Games’ Game Director Arthur Parsons on the streets and chatted with him a little bit while waiting to cross the street.

Now on to the LEGO booth itself. It was very colorful and what we expect a LEGO booth to look like. Although the space for the booth was one of the larger ones at the convention, it didn’t feel like it. There wasn’t that much room to maneuver and if you thought you did, that was quickly over. One of the few disappointments with the booth was the retail store they had around back. Every time I went by that area, there would be a line outside waiting to go in with a few people inside slowly … Continue

LEGO Ideas Wall•E Achieves 10,000 Supporters

It’s been a while that we last reported on a project reaching 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas but the Wall•E project by Angus MacLane is the latest one to reach that milestone. Angus is an animator who worked on the movie and took him about 3 years to build the LEGO version of Wall•E while he was also working on the movie.

It is a very accurate representation of WALL•E and it makes a cute little set for you to play with or display if it does go into production. The project now gets moved on to the Review Stage where it will go against other worthy projects including the Assault on Wayne Manor, Invisible Hand, X-Men: X-Mansion, and LEGO Lightsabers. Congratulations to Angus for this achievement.

LEGO San Diego Comic Con 2014 Survey

Since San Diego Comic Con 2014 is all wrapped up, The LEGO Group is looking for input on your experience if you attended the convention. The survey guages how the LEGO booth was ran and the attendees’ overall experience. If you were like me, you probably saw some things that weren’t up to snuff during the four days there like the line filling up to purchase the exclusives before the exhibit doors even opened or how about the line switching direction after people had already lined up on the other side of the booth. Head over to Survey Monkey to give your opinion on how the LEGO booth was ran. I’ll be doing a recap on my experience at SDCC 2014 in a separate post but in the meantime, leave a comment on how you think the booth was ran.

The LEGO Movie Panel at SDCC 2014

The LEGO Movie Panel at SDCC 2014

The last panel I went to at San Diego Comic Con 2014 was the LEGO/Warner Bros. The LEGO Movie panel. The panel consisted of LEGO Brand marketing Director Brian Bowler, Executive Producer and LEGO Vice President of Product Design Matthew Ashton, and LEGO Senior Product Designer Michael Fuller. Jadon Sands (Finn) was scheduled to make an appearance but was a no show.

The panel pretty much showed the storyboard which was already seen in The LEGO Movie Blu-Ray. They talked about the concept of King Carl’s Castle which eventually turned into Unikitty’s Cloud Cuckoo Land. They also showed the different versions of Unikitty before the final version was chosen. One interesting slide that was shown was the version of Unikitty seen below. The panel hinted that we may be seeing more of Unikitty in a set(s) that will be released in January 2015. Early speculation is that this version of Unikitty will be in the Master Builder’s Submarine so fingers crossed.

Furthermore, the panel also showed off various designs of MetalBeard and discussed how Michael came up with the final design.

Overall, the panel was ok. A majority of the things that were shown were already on the Blu-Ray but some of the new stuff that was shown was a pleasant surprise including the new Unikitty minifigure. One of the highlights was the number of children cosplayers dressed up as some characters from the LEGO Movie including the kids that dressed up as half Unikitty and half Angry Kitty. There was also a Bad Cop, … Continue
