Better Look at LEGO 60 Years of the LEGO Brick (40290) Set

LEGO 60 Years of the LEGO Brick (40290)

We now have a better a better look at the 60 Years of the LEGO Brick (40290) set courtesy of the January 2018 LEGO Store Calendar. We now know that it will be available from January 28 – February 14 here in the US giving you over two weeks to get your hands on it. You can get it for free with a purchase of $125 or more, while supplies last. I’m sure that this set will go very quickly as this is one of the best promotional items that LEGO has released in recent years.

Unlike the previous widely released individual homage promotional sets like the Classic Spaceman Minifigure (5002812), Classic Pirates Minifigure (5003082), and Classic Knights Minifigure (5004419) which used minifigures along with small builds, this new set focuses more on actual sets that LEGO has released in the past. The themes are focused in this set are Town, Castle, Pirates, and Space and the builds are based on the Airport Shuttle (6399), Castle (375), Black Seas Barracuda (6285), and Space Cruiser And Moonbase (928). With 421 pieces, there’s enough to have all four micro builds built at the same time without taking the other ones apart.

The 60 Years of the LEGO Brick (40290) set is way better than the Building Bigger Thinking theme that we’ll be getting next year that also celebrates the anniversary of the brick. As I mentioned before, fans will definitely want to pick it up and I have a feeling that it will sell out … Continue

60 Years of the LEGO Brick Anniversary Set Revealed

LEGO 60 Years of the LEGO Brick (40290)

The LEGO January 2018 Store Calendar has surfaced online and one of the main promotional items for the month is a limited edition 60 Years of the LEGO Brick anniversary set. It will be available with a purchase of $125 or more at LEGO Stores and on Shop@Home.

The LEGO 60th anniversary set pays tribute to four classic LEGO sets including Classic Castle, Town, Space, and Pirates and they are micro versions of the Castle (375), Airport Shuttle (6399), Space Cruiser And Moonbase (928), and Black Seas Barracuda (6285). It also has a similar style to the 2016 LEGO 50 Years on Track (4002016) employee set.

Thanks to everyone who emailed in about it. I saw it last night but didn’t post due to the impending announcement of the LEGO Creator Downtown Diner (10260) that was shown on top of the calendar. I’ll update with a better image when the PDF copy is available.

Update: The January 2018 LEGO Store Calendar is available and we now have a clearer look at the set.

LEGO Powerpuff Girls Rumored for 2018

Here’s some pretty interesting news coming out of the Brickset Forums regarding the Powerpuff Girls. Apparently the LEGO Dimensions expansion packs weren’t the last time we will see them as there are a couple of sets rumored for 2018 which include:

Bubbles’ Playground Showdown (41287)
Mojo Jojo Strikes (41288)

This some interesting news as this is something I didn’t expect but they would also add on to the existing minifigures and builds that we already got from LEGO Dimensions. If this rumor is actually true, I would love to have a Mojo Jojo minifigure. What do you guys think of this piece of 2018 news?

Here’s something that is a blast from the past over on Target’s website. The 2015 LEGO Minifigure Gift Box (5004077) is now available again for purchase for whatever reason so if you didn’t get it two years ago or if you’re a newer LEGO fan, you can now buy it again for $9.99. There’s no details on how much inventory they actually have in stock.

It contains four exclusive minifigures that you won’t find in sets and they include LEGO Ninjago Stone Armor Kai, LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Lightning Lad, LEGO Legends of Chima Sir Fangar, and a LEGO City Diver. I’ve already done a review of the set a few years ago so you can check that out if you want.

Thanks to Yoritomo for bring it to my attention.

Tiffany & Co. “Everyday Objects” Building Blocks

Tiffany & Co. is known for their high-end jewelry but today they’ve launched an “Everyday Objects” line that transforms everyday items into expensive objects. One of the more notable items are the $1500 Building Blocks that look like your favorite construction toys. The blocks are made out of sterling silver and American walnut and have various shapes like 2×2 and 2×3. One of the bricks that LEGO does not produce are 2x5s which this set has four of, one of which is complete sterling silver.

If money is no object then you may be interested in the Tiffany & Co. Everyday Objects Building Blocks. Of course, engraving is a little extra but since you’re already dropping $1500 on it, a little bit more is nothing. I can think of a number of LEGO sets that I can drop this amount of money on.

LEGO Minifigures (5004941) Toys R Us Bricktober 2017 Set Now Available

LEGO Bricktober 2017 Minifigures (5004941)

Today starts the last week of Bricktober 2017 at Toys R Us here in the US and with a purchase of $50 or more, you can get the LEGO Minifigures (5004941) set. This one, in my opinion, is one of the more high sought after Bricktober 2017 sets simply because of the minifigure selection. Even though they look they look like previously released minifigures, they are all slightly different from before.

As for the LEGO City Jungle (5004940) set from last week, some stores may sell them starting today for $19.99 each while some stores may hold off until the end of Bricktober to start selling them.

How to Make LEGO a Minifigure Cardboard Costume

It’s almost Halloween and if you’re still looking for a costume and has some time, The Q has released a video on how to make a functional LEGO minifigure costume. This is probably one of the most accurate looking LEGO minifigure costumes I’ve seen but it does take some time and lots of material to create. One thing about it is that it can be used for other occasions besides Halloween and it’s a template for other characters if you want to expand on it.
