The LEGO Batman Movie First Look

The LEGO Batman Movie

USA Today has given us our first look at some scenes from the new The LEGO Batman Movie that will be coming out on February 10, 2017. There we can some shots of Will Arnett’s cool looking Batcave with a variety of cowls and suits. We can also see the new Batwing which I assume will become an official set when the movie comes out.

Along with Will Arnett, there will be a star-studded voice casting with Ralph Fiennes as Alfred, Michael Cera as Dick Grayson/Robin, Rosario Dawson as Barbara Gordon/Batgirl, Zach Galifianakis as the Joker, and Mariah Carey as Gotham’s mayor. The first trailer for The LEGO Batman Movie will be released this Wednesday.

Mariah Carey to Voice Gotham Mayor in The LEGO Batman Movie

Okay so this is out of left field but Grammy winner singer/songwriter Mariah Carey is in talks to voice Commissioner Gordon in The LEGO Batman Movie according to Deadline. I don’t know where this potential signing is going but if she is on board, she’ll join Will Will Arnett (Batman), Michael Cera (Robin), Rosario Dawson (Batgirl), Zach Galifianakis (Joker), and recently signed on Ralph Fiennes (Alfred) as the cast so far. Uh yea, I’m still confused.

Update: In a correction to the previous report that Mariah Carey was voicing Gordon, she will actually be voicing Gotham’s mayor as stated by The Hollywood Reporter.

Ralph Fiennes to Voice Alfred in The LEGO Batman Movie

Earlier today while I was work, I saw that The Hollywood Reporter has announced that the spinoff The LEGO Batman Movie has signed Ralph Fiennes to voice Alfred Pennyworth. Fiennes, most known for his portrayal of Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter films, now joins Will Arnett, Michael Cera, and Rosario Dawson as the people who will voice Batman, Robin, and Batgirl, respectively. Galifianakis has done voice acting before on the big screen with Humpty Dumpty in Puss in Boots as well as on various TV shows like American Dad!, Bob’s Burgers, and The Simpsons. He’ll no doubt bring his own spin on the Clown Prince of Crime and I look forward to seeing it in a few years.

LEGO Batman Spinoff Movie About If Batman Can Be Happy

With all the LEGO 2015 set rumors we had today, let’s take a step back and look at something else, more specifically, about The LEGO Batman spinoff movie. Back in October of last year, we reported that the movie will be coming in 2017. There have been small details coming from Phil Lord and Chris Miller saying that “every era of Batman filmmaking will be acknowledged.”

MTV recently caught up with the pair again at the National Board of Review Awards and Lord teased, “No spoilers. But I will say I think the movie is really exciting because it’s about ‘Can Batman be happy?'”

Lord also added while mimicking Batman, “Wah, I’m so rich and handsome, and women like me, and I’ve got a Maclaren. Something about my parents!”

Will Arnett, who will be returning to voice the Dark Knight, stated he has seen part of the film and said, “The first bit that I’ve seen was mind-boggling.”

Can Batman ever be happy especially since Wyldstyle broke up with him to be with Emmet in The LEGO Movie? What does he have now that will bring joy to his life again?
