The LEGO Marvel theme has been releasing some larger sets recently with the Daily Bugle (76178) last year and this year with the Sanctum Sanctorum (76218). Announced back at LEGO Con 2022, the set has 2,708 pieces and retails for $249.99. It features scenes from both Avengers: Infinity War and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Minifigures

The set features nine minifigures from the two movies including Doctor Strange, Wong, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Ebony Maw, Master Mordo, Sinister Strange, Dead Strange, and The Scarlet Witch.

Doctor Strange has the updated outfit from MoM which is the same one from the Gargantos Showdown (76205). The Seal of Vishanti is displayed around the neck and the belt area has some nice printing that goes around the torso. His double-sided head shows him with a smile on one side and a stern look on the other. He does have a hard molded cape along with with accessories for his spells.

Wong is in the Infinity War outfit that was seen during the Attack on Greenwich Village. The torso has some decent printing of his robes which goes around back but the legs are void of printing. His single-sided head shows him with a smirk. I’m not sure why this version of him is bald since he had some short hair during that time. His accessories include some trans-orange for his Tao Mandalas.

Iron Man is in the nanotech Mark 50 armor. It looks very similar to the one from 2018 but with some very subtle differences. The front and back of the torso is very detailed as is with the front legs. He does have a double-sided head showing Tony Stark with a confident look on one side and a head-up display on the other. He does comes with a spare hairpiece if you want to use that instead. His accessories include some trans-blue studs and round bricks for his thrusters.

Spider-Man is back with yet another version of his suit. It’s basically the same red and blue suit but the little metallic silver spots near the waist is what makes it different from the other LEGO Spider-Man suits. His accessories include some energy blast pieces for his webs.

LEGO Marvel Sanctum Sanctorum (76218)

Ebony Maw returns for his second minifigure and it looks like the original one but with more updates to him. The torso is highly detailed on both sides but for some reason, LEGO decided not to have printing on the legs like with the previous version. His accessories include a couple of spikes.

Master Mordo is the new version from MoM where he is in the sand green outfit. The torso has some intricate designs on both sides and the front even has some metallic gold printing for the details. His double-sided head shows him with a cocky smile on one side and a stern look on the other. His hairpiece is a new long braided one. His accessories are some Tao Mandalas.

Sinister Strange has a much darker blue outfit than the regular Strange minifigure. His double-sided head has a more paler skin tone and one side shows him with a smirk on one side and the other shows him with his third eye. His accessories include some purple spells.

Dead Strange is zombie version of Defender Strange who was used by Doctor Strange to dreamwalk to confront Scarlet Witch. The printing on the torso and legs show a very tattered outfit. The head has a very zombie look to it and he has some purple spells. I wish LEGO has some more accessories for the extra ghost arms.

Lastly, we have the Scarlet Witch who has a slight different outfit than the one from WandaVision in the LEGO Marvel Studio Collectible Minifigures (71031). This version shows her with a red and black outfit that is long sleeved. There is unfortunately no printing on the legs. Her double-sided head shows her with a confident smile on one side and an angry look on the other. Her hairpiece also has her tiara molded on at the front. Her accessories include some 1×1 trans-red plates for her hex spells.

Build

The first floor of the Sanctum Sanctorum has the main staircase with a grandfather clock and a recliner on the right side. I do like how the recliner is connected to the outer wall to fill in the gap. Some little detailing here includes a picture with Doctor Strange and Wong in the Himalayas. Above the couch is Strange’s medical degree and another picture. The other side of the floor has a globe and hanging above it is a world map and another picture of Strange.

At the top of the stairs, there are some stickered tiles such as a Wong’s secret stuff, a travel guide, and a pizza box. You can lift up the top part of the floor to access some secret areas. The backside of the Sanctum has a portal to a safe room where the Book of Cagliostro is locked up as well as a spot for the Time Stone. There’s also a back room with a fridge that has the Tesseract hidden behind.

The second floor is a more open area that is the study and the fun part is the back door next to the bookcases which is the Rotunda of Gateways. When you open the door, there is a choice of three locations that you can get by sliding the bars on the back to move the panels. The left panel takes you to Siberia, the middle goes to the Dark Dimension, and the right one to a desert.

There’s a lot more items on this floor like the chairs there Strange and Thor chat in Ragnarok. The table even has a full glass of beer.

One of the outer walls has Gargantos coming through the portal. The opposite side has a transparent bar to show one of the minifigures flying.

LEGO Marvel Sanctum Sanctorum (76218)

The top floor of the Sanctum is more of a relic room that is filled with various objects. Two of the more notable ones are Thor’s Mjolnir umbrella and Staff of the Living Tribunal. Some of the more obscure ones include the Brazier of Bom’Galiath, Crimson Bands of Cyttorak, Axe of Angarruumus on the wall, and Scrolls of Watoomb in the treasure chest.

The roof is pretty simple and it has a little bench with plants as seen in Avengers: Endgame during the Time Heist.

LEGO Marvel Sanctum Sanctorum (76218)

The backside of the Sanctum has some graffiti like the Ten Rings logo. There’s also a billboard of the new Captain America exhibit at the Bricksonian Museum. The bottom floor has some Technic pins on boxes to connect the whole build to another building.

There’s a lot of spots to place the minifigures on to make the scene including areas on the sides of the walls and some transparent bars to makes some of them flying.

Results

Overall the LEGO Marvel Sanctum Sanctorum (76218) is a pretty fun set to build. I do like that there are a lot of minifigures that tie into both Infinity War and the Multiverse of Madness although both movies had little screentime of the Sanctum. There’s also a lot of little details on the inside on all three floors. The pricing of it is not too bad for what you get especially with the nine minifigs.
