LEGO Star Wars UCS Death Star (75159) Officially Announced

LEGO Star Wars UCS Death Star (75159)

LEGO has finally announced the next LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector’s Series set with the updated Death Star (75159). It hasn’t been much of a secret the past couple of weeks but there are now official details of the set. It will have 4,016 pieces and retails for $499.99 which is 213 pieces and $100 more than the recently retired 10188 version.

Although there are many, many fans that aren’t impressed with it, the main appeal is to those who weren’t able to get the previous version or for new LEGO fans who has just started collecting LEGO Star Wars sets. I do understand the animosity against the new set when it was first “revealed” because there are very minor updates to it but at a higher price point. For those individuals, that means you can save your money and use it on other LEGO sets that interest you more.

One thing to note in the press release notes was that the UCS Death Star (75159) is not an indication of any future re-release or set updates.

Wow I cannot believe what they did on Obi-Wan, printing gone horribly wrong

    • The Anonymous Hutt

It was like that in the Cantina set from 2014 as well. I think the only difference is the head piece.

I agree though, the legs look terrible with that torso.

  • Peter

    Did they re-color chewbacca?

  • The Anonymous Hutt

I won’t be picking up this set. For $500, I could buy the entire wave of Rouge One sets, and have more left over.

    • Peter

Wait this is 500?!?! Wanst the last 400?!? Screw the disney tax!!

  • Stefan Rang

WHAT!!!!…. i though they create the Death star 1 UCS, and not this 1. I already have this model from a few years ago. And i got death star 2 UCS.
So i hoped they release a death star 1 from episode 4.

This is wasting of money what they do, first a new x wing UCS and the sandcrawler and now this.

I hope they build the TIE bomber and A wing UCS, these are the 2 i dont have. I got all TIE UCS models and Rebels fighter, only i miss the A wing and TIE bomber.

    • Dumdum

If you’re gonna be consistent with your stance, then Lego shouldn’t make UCS versions of the TIE bomber and A-wing. It’s quite selfish to want Lego to only make stuff you currently don’t have.

“You missed your chance to get the TIE bomber back then? Too bad! Lego is wasting by doing a UCS version of that, because I already have the original set.” – See how selfish that sounds?
