LEGO 90th Anniversary Castle Set Teased?

During yesterday’s reveal of the LEGO Back to the Future Time Machine (10300), there was a short animated video showing Doc and Marty going to different time periods. Their first stop may have also included a teaser for the upcoming LEGO 90th Anniversary Castle set.

The main part shows Marty standing in front of the castle looking for a piece required to go home. Just looking from the size of it compared to the minifigure, it’s huge. Shortly after, you can see some knights chasing Marty and you can clearly see two of them with the Lion Knights insignia on the torso.

There have been various reports that the set would be called the Lion King’s Castle (10305) and it would pay homage to the original King’s Castle (6080). The price of it would be about €349.99 and if the set is the one shown in the short, the price may be justified. We all know that LEGO likes to throw teasers in other sets and this was perhaps a great way to give us a taste of what’s to come.

LEGO Lion King’s Castle (10305) Rumored as 90th Anniversary Set

There are new rumors going around online that the upcoming LEGO 90th Anniversary set will be based on LEGO Castle. If you remember from last year, LEGO did a fan vote in which fan would choose which theme will become the anniversary set and the final round came down to Bionicle, Classic Space, Pirates, and Castle. LEGO messed up by splitting up the various Castle themes but they all aggregated to be in the top four.

According to Promobricks, the 90th Anniversary set would loosely be called the Lion King’s Castle (10305). It is said that it could pay homage to the old King’s Castle (6080) which released back in 1984. It is also stated that it would cost around €349.99 and will be released in August which is the month that LEGO was founded in 1932.

LEGO will be releasing another retro-type set that pays homage to some of the original LEGO themes and for this year, it will be the Classic Knights (5004419) set. There are now official images of the set from Brick Merge which shows some closer details of the Classic Knights set.

Like with the 2014 Classic Spaceman Minifigure (5002812) and the 2015 Classic Pirates Minifigure (5003082) sets, the Classic Knights (5004419) set will contain a minifigure from a particular theme and in this case, a Crusader Knight from the LEGO Castle theme. The build itself is a small ballista that is very similar to the 1986 Siege Cart (6012) but with updated parts. There’s also a small booklet showing off some of the various knights that LEGO has released throughout the years.

The Classic Knights (5004419) set will be available starting June 30-July 10 with purchases of $50 or more at LEGO Brand Stores and on [email protected]

LEGO Classic Knights (5004419) June/July Promotion

LEGO Classic Knights (5004419)

You’ve probably seen a glimpse of this set on the LEGO July 2016 Store Calendar but from June 30 to July 10, VIPs can get a Free exclusive LEGO Classic Knights (5004419) set with purchases of $50 or more. LEGO is continuing the traditional classic sets which pays homage to some of the original themes from LEGO. The sets first started in 2014 with the Classic Spaceman Minifigure (5002812) and last year with Classic Pirates Minifigure (5003082).

The set has 47 pieces and the box will again be the white one that’s been used before but with updated printing with this year’s theme. With three different classic themes that have been released or will be releasing with the Knights, there aren’t that much “Classic” themes to choose from. If these types of sets continue next year, I have a feeling it might be for LEGO Town.

What is LEGO “Big Bang” and Rumors of New 2016 Theme

Steam Castle Falls

Yesterday, I posted a list of potential 2016 LEGO sets and at the very top of the list was a thing called LEGO BB or “Big Bang.” Not to be confused with the LEGO Ideas The Big Bang Theory (21302)icon, “Big Bang” is an internal term used by LEGO for a new IP that has a major media campaign to go along with it much like Ninjago from 2011 and Legends of Chima in 2013.

This takes us to 2016 where we’ve been given various hints and specualation on what this new theme is. First we have Amazon where there is an Activity Book and a Mini Guide which gives the description:

An activity book featuring the heroes, villains, vehicles, and locations from the top secret, NEW LEGO brand!

So we know that there is indeed a new theme coming in 2016 but what could it be? I’ve reported before there was a rumor of a LEGO Castle Fantasy Era theme. That rumor has slightly changed and word going around on Eurobricks is that there’s a new theme called “Space Knights” which is said to combine elements of both Castle and Steampunk.

As you may have seen on Flickr and MOCPages, LEGO Steampunk is a pretty cool subtheme that the community likes to dabble in. Heck, there’s even a whole book dedicated to LEGO Steampunk builds by Guy Himber who is one of the forerunners in the scene.

Again, this is whole LEGO Space Knights Steampunk theme is still speculation but there are some fairly … Continue

LEGO Castle Fantasy Era Sets Coming Back in 2016?

In 2013, LEGO brought back the LEGO Castle them and to say the least, it was a pretty underwhelming theme in my opinion. It was a one-off wave which featured the blue Lion Knights fighting against the red Dragon Knights and it combined things from the Kingdoms and the 2007 Castle subthemes. The sets came out in the Spring of 2013 and there were no subsequent waves in 2014 and won’t be any in the first half of 2015.

However, there’s a rumor on Eurobricks that LEGO might be bringing the LEGO Castle theme back in 2016. According to BrickJagger, there was a memo sent out to a LEGO Store manager and it said that a new Castle theme would be coming out late 2015/mid 2016. This new wave was said to be “a lot like the Castle theme from a few years ago, the one with the Dwarves and Trolls.” The sets that is being referred to is the 2007 Castle subtheme which was known as the Fantasy Era. These sets were pretty popular among fans and they had an assortment of different minifigures that were included such as the ones mentioned. Given that the most recent Castle sets have been retired and the Hobbit sets are pretty much done, a new fantasy theme would be a good addition and provides some variety in the different LEGO themes.

This piece of news is pretty interesting but it could also be completely false so take it with a grain of salt. I’ll keep following up on … Continue
