LEGO San Diego Comic Con 2023 Recap

Just like that, San Diego Comic Con 2023 is now over but here’s a recap of the LEGO happenings during the four days. First off is the LEGO booth itself which they have named it LEGO Brickbuster Video. This is a play on the old Blockbuster Video stores. Throughout the store, there were displays of upcoming LEGO sets from various themes. On the shelves were VHS cassette cases featuring movies and themes in LEGO form.

The back wall named New Releases was filled with creations from fans. Some of the themes for the builds were unplanned and spontaneous such as the Spongebob ones and Pikachu ones. I was told that fans took inspiration from the builds that were already on the shelves and they made their own version.

There were also brick-build statues that fans could take pictures with. The builds were made to look like the old 2D cardboard cutouts that you could find at Blockbuster stores. Fans could take pictures with them and share to social media to get corresponding pins of them. The ones for this year were Captain America, Sonic the Hedgehog, and a speeder bike from Star Wars.

There was a Coming Attractions billboard showing some of the current and upcoming LEGO shows and specials. Some of the new shows coming soon include LEGO Masters: Holiday Bricktacular, LEGO Marvel Avengers: Code Red, LEGO Star Wars: Mandoween – Celebrate the Season, LEGO Masters: Season 4, LEGO Disney Princess: The Castle Quest, and one confidential show that they never revealed. Any guesses on … Continue

LEGO Ninjago SDCC 2023 Exclusive Riyu Revealed

At the LEGO Ninjago talent signing today at San Diego Comic Con 2023, Doc Wyatt on his social media showed off an exclusive LEGO Ninjago polybag that was given out to fans. The polybag features Baby Riyu (6484261) with glowing eyes which is different from the ones in the regular sets.

So far, none have surfaced yet on the secondary market but do expect it to be a bit pricey when it does. There’s also a small chance that this is just a pre-release figure and will be in sets in the future like with the Bard from The Hobbit many years back.

LEGO Brickbuster Video SDCC 2023 Scavenger Hunt Prizes Revealed

As we know from yesterday’s press release, LEGO has a scavenger hunt going on at San Diego Comic Con 2023 and we now know what the prizes are. There are clues hidden throughout the exhibit floor to find a LEGO Brickbuster Video VHS case and you can redeem the prizes at the booth.

Andrew (akanei12) has kindly shared what he got from the scavenger hunt and it includes a LEGO Master (6385893) set as well as a gold/yellow keychain. In addition, there’s also the San Diego Comic Con 2023 exclusive LEGO Pin set featuring the Star Wars Speeder Bike, Sonic, Captain America, and Brickbuster Video. Also they got to keep the Brickbuster Video case as well.

LEGO Reveals LEGO Brickbuster Video Booth at San Diego Comic Con 2023

Although fans at Preview Night got to experience it already, LEGO has officially revealed their LEGO Brickbuster Video booth for San Diego Comic Con 2023. Located at #2829, the booth resembles an old school Blockbuster Video rental store filled with “tapes” of movies in LEGO form. There’s also displays full of upcoming LEGO sets that will be released in the next few months.

As far as exclusives are concerned, there looks to be no LEGO minifigures or sets to be purchased but there are some giveaways and a scavenger hunt for unspecified prizes via the “Brick Drop.” Some of the surprise giveaways include a LEGO Brickbuster Video Membership Card and exclusive pins. In addition, there’s a free Build Your Own Minifigure experience that includes a limited-edition LEGO Brickbuster Video torso.
