LEGO The Simpsons Rumor from 2019 D23 Expo

LEGO The Simpsons Kwik-E-Mart (71016)

A few years ago, LEGO surprisingly released some sets for The Simpsons TV show along with a couple of Collectible Minifigure series. The theme was very short-lived but it was pretty popular among fans. As we know by now, Disney acquired 21st Century Fox earlier this year so in turn, Disney owns The Simpsons. You’ll be able to stream the series on Disney+ when it launches in November.

The 2019 D23 Expo was this past weekend and there was a Simpsons panel there where creator Matt Groening was one of the guests. Of course, there was a Q&A session and it was reported that someone asked if there will be more LEGO The Simpsons sets and he responded “it is likely.” I’m not sure if the question was really asked but it was news that someone forwarded to me a few days ago and it’s worth taking a look at.

Obviously, LEGO had a partnership with Fox to produce some sets including a BrickHeadz set that had a very short shelf life last year so it’s a matter of whether LEGO intends to make more or not. LEGO also has a great relationship with Disney as well and I don’t see why they couldn’t reach out for a possibility to make more sets. Also the original tweet was deleted so that is a major red flag. Either it was a fake tweet and they decided not to keep it up or it they were asked to remove it because the creators weren’t supposed to talk about … Continue

Disney Finalizes Deal to Acquire 21st Century Fox

One of the big news today is that Disney has officially announced that the company will acquire 21st Century Fox for $52.4 billion. This acquisition means that certain franchises will return to Marvel including X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Deadpool. Disney will also acquire other entertainment properties like The Simpsons.

Now that the deal has been finalized, LEGO fans can now start speculating about what potential LEGO sets we could see in the future. Obviously, there’s the X-Men and Fantastic Four but we also get a ton of other characters that could we finally get to see in LEGO form like Galactus, Silver Surfer, and Doctor Doom. And obviously fans want to see more Deadpool stuff but that’s iffy since it’s a rated-R property and still be that way according to Bob Iger.

Furthermore, The Simpsons are now also under the Disney umbrella which also could make a return as a LEGO theme. We’ve gotten a few LEGO sets for them already like The Simpsons House (71006) and The Kwik-E-Mart (71016) as well as two waves of Collectible Minifigures. Maybe this Disney/Fox deal can help kickstart negotiations for another Simpsons licensing agreement to produce more sets.

We don’t know what goes behind closed doors for LEGO licensing deals for certain properties but it’s fun to guess what we could possibly get in the future. What do you guys want to see as LEGO sets that are part of the Disney announcement today?

LEGO The Simpsons House (71006) on Sale for 20% Off

If you saw my post of some of the LEGO D2C sets that are rumored to be retiring this year, you would’ve seen that the LEGO Simpsons House (71006) was on the list. Walmart and Amazon currently has the set on sale for $159.88 which is the first and only time I’ve seen this set on sale. If you’ve been holding off on picking up this set, especially for the past three years since it’s been available, now is the perfect time to get it, maybe for a Christmas present? Anyways, get it while it while it’s still at 20% off the normal price of $199.99. Both Walmart and Amazon have free two day shipping.

LEGO The Simpsons Minifigures Series 2 (71009) Review

Way back in August of last year, there was talk about the Series 2 LEGO The Simpsons Minifigures (71009) even though Series 1 was still in stores. That was when speculation started up of who will be included in Series 2 before LEGO officially revealed them back in March.

There are 60 minifigures in a box and you can pretty much find three complete sets in a full unopened box. Each of the packets are $3.99 and they contain a random character from the wave. I’ve managed to collect all 16 from Series 2 on my first try with the help of my feel guide which hopefully you can use as well to find the character(s) you want.

LEGO The Simpsons Minifigures Series 2 (71009) Showing Up at Target But…

There have been reports that the LEGO The Simpsons Minifigures Series 2 (71009) has started to show up at various Target stores and being displayed on endcaps like the ones you see in the image above and on the shelves. Unfortunately, many of the stores have a strict release date of May 1st so they won’t even sell them even if they’re displayed on the floor which is such a tease. However you might get real lucky and find some stores that will sell them but that’s pretty rare. The Target DPCI for the Series 2 Simpsons minifigures is 204-00-1379 if you have trouble finding them when they are officially released in May. Thanks to Multigasmgeek for the DPCI number.

While you’re there, why not go see if the LEGO City Go-Kart Racer (30314) is available there as well as there have been reports that the polybag has started to show up. The DPCI number for the polybag is 204-00-0291.
