LEGO Creator Fire Brigade (10197) Amazon Sale

Amazon is having a sale on the LEGO Creator Fire Brigade (10197) for $129.99, 13% off the retail price. Now may be your chance to get this great set at a discounted price before it gets hit with the “retiring soon” label by LEGO. The Fire Brigade was released in September 2009 so I’m predicting it might not have much more shelf life in the upcoming months.

Build an authentic vintage fire station!

Ding ding ding! There’s a fire in town! The fire brigade drives to the scene from this detailed and realistic 1930’s fire station. Designed to fit with other modular buildings like 10211 Grand Emporium and 10185 Green Grocer, the station features rare LEGO® pieces and innovative construction techniques. It includes a ‘30s-style fire truck, 4 minifigures, a fire-dog, an opening station garage door, and a removable building roof for interior access. It also includes 2 fully-furnished floors with fire-fighting tools, racks for the firemen’s helmets, fire-pole, ping-pong table, kitchen with fully-stocked fridge, couch, bookshelf and a roof with a water tower and bell. Measures 14″ (35cm) high and 10″ (25cm) wide.

LEGO Star Wars 2012 Advent Calendar (9509) Round Up

The 2012 Star Wars Advent Calendar (9509) is now completed and there is a mixed reaction on this set. There are a few hits and a few misses as well with the calendar. With less pieces used than 2011 calendar, will this set hold up to the last year’s model?

Hits

There are a few vehicles that I thought were hits including the Star Destroyer from Day 4 and the Naboo Starfighter from Day 7. For the minifigures, I thought that the Snowman R2-D2 on Day 23 and the Santa Darth Maul in the final day were the best overall minifigures in the set.

Misses

There are also misses with the 2012 Advent Calendar such as the MTT from Day 5 and the Separatist Shuttle in Day 19. I just didn’t think that LEGO captured the representation of the vehicles that well. All the minifigure were decent except for the obligatory addition of the Security Battle Droid from Day 6.

Results

Overall, the 2012 Star Wars Advent Calendar is a decent set. It comes in at 236 pieces, much less than the amount of 266 pieces the 2011 version had so the quality isn’t as up to par as last year. The set retails for $49.99 but it’s been on sale for a while now. Look for it to be on discount in stores now that Christmas has passed. Now is time to wait for next year’s advent calendar.

LEGO Hero Factory: Brain Attack Available on Google Play

If you have an Android phone or tablet, the LEGO Hero Factory: Brain Attack game by Amuzo Games is now available for free on Google Play. The game is your standard wave, top-down, shoot-em up game with Hero Factory characters so if you’re into those types of games, this would be a good one for you to try. Like many other games, you can customize and upgrade your armor and weapons as the game progresses. You also get to have a sidekick to help you through the levels or team up with your friends for an all-out assault. I’ve downloaded it a few hours ago and played through the first two levels and it’s a pretty good game. The graphics are very nice but it does load a little slow. Again, the game is free and the developers are actively updating the game in 2013 with a major update at the end of January. Give it a try and let us know what you think of LEGO Hero Factory: Brain Attack. If you have an iOS device, you can download it from iTunes here.

The box contains two instruction booklets, three numbered bags, one comic book, and a card with a code to download the LEGO Batman Video Game on Steam. The set is inspired by the scene in The Dark Knight Rises where the Bat chases down the Tumbler in the streets of Gotham, hence the name of the set.
