Merry Christmas!

We here at The Brick Fan would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas. We all celebrate in our own ways but the most important thing it is to spend it with your loved ones. I hope that Santa got you all the LEGO you wished for this year and more. Stay safe out there and have a happy holidays!

LEGO Seasonal Christmas Build Up (40253) – Day 24

LEGO Seasonal Christmas Build Up (40253)

For the final day of the LEGO Seasonal Christmas Build Up (40253), we have someone that is synonymous with the holiday but does it live up to expectations. The build is the jolly man himself but he looks very weird. I do like that the build uses a white croissant piece for the moustache but that’s about it. The face is able to swivel and he seems to be slumping over just a bit. It’s unfortunate that the last build for the set is somewhat of a letdown especially from yesterday’s build. It probably would’ve been better if they were switched.

I’ll have a wrap-up post about the LEGO Seasonal Christmas Build Up tomorrow to fully close out this set.

Top 10 LEGO 2017 Sets

It’s that time of the year where I list my top 10 LEGO sets of 2017. According to Brickset, there were 835 LEGO products that were released this year and choosing only ten of them will provide somewhat difficult as there are so many choices. Although the list consists of mostly Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) sets, there are also a couple of surprise entries as well. Keep in mind that this is my personal list and may differ from your list.

10. LEGO Star Wars BB-8 (75187)

The pseudo-UCS set, the BB-8 is scaled very well to the UCS R2-D2 (10225) and it even has the plaque that is synonymous with UCS sets. Although it’s not considered UCS, it does look great and comes in at a great price.

9. LEGO Ideas Old Fishing Store (21310)

Usually LEGO changes a lot of things when a LEGO Ideas project becomes an official set but they stayed true to the original design that Robert Bontenbal had. It looks realistic and the color scheme is very eye-pleasing. Check out my review of the set here.

8. LEGO Star Wars UCS Snowspeeder (75144)

The UCS Snowspeeder is a good set compared to last year’s Assault on Hoth as it went back to its roots of a detailed model instead of a playset. Read my review here.

7. LEGO Creator Carousel (10257)

The fairground subtheme for the LEGO Creator line gets an expansion with the Carousel. The vibrant colors of it … Continue

LEGO Seasonal Christmas Build Up (40253) – Day 23

LEGO Seasonal Christmas Build Up (40253)

In the second to last day of the LEGO Seasonal Christmas Build Up (40253), today’s model is probably the best one out of the set. For Day 23, we have a great looking Christmas tree. It’s a simple build that uses mostly slope pieces for the shape of the tree and it’s decorated with ornaments which are just a variety of translucent studs. The star also uses some trans-yellow studs as well. As I said earlier, this Christmas tree is the best build out of the set so far and it probably the best Christmas tree LEGO has released in general.

LEGO Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Sets Releasing in May

The new German LEGO catalog for the first half of 2018 is now available and Promobricks has given a detailed look what fans can expect early next year. We’ve pretty much seen all of the LEGO sets that are shown in the catalog but I’m mostly talking about the LEGO Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom sets. According to the little teaser, we can expect them to be coming out in May which is expected because the movie will be premiering in theaters in June. Rumor has it that there will be five sets (75926-75930), three Juniors sets (10756-10758), and two DUPLO sets (10879-10880).

Return of the LEGO Storage Heads

When I came back to LEGO back in 2011, one of the new things that LEGO released was the Sort and Store heads. They retired a short time later in 2013 and nothing really has ever replaced the popularity of it, until now. The folks at Room Copenhagen, who has licensing agreements with LEGO to produce these storage heads, has let us know that they are now available again for purchase on Amazon. The only change with these updated heads is that they are only storage heads and there’s no sorting separators for them.

The heads come in Boy and Girl versions as well as in Large and Small.

The price for them is currently at $34.99 which is 17% off the retail price of $41.99. Even the price is cheaper than the price of $44.99 for the original heads.
