It was revealed a few a while back but there will be a polybag associated with Star Wars: The Force Awakens which is a C-3PO (5002948) minifigure polybag. As you can see, this version of C-3PO is a little different from the usual versions we’ve seen since has a red arm for some reason which will be revealed in the movie this December.
There are two different offers for the polybag in the US as far as I know. One is a LEGOLAND Florida special offer where purchases of $35 or more from September 7 to September 28 will net you on of these polybags. The other offer hasn’t been officially announced yet but I heard that it will be available at Toys R Us with a certain purchase amount in November. Check out a short review of it from PromoBricks below.

How about Europe?
LegoLand Malaysia has it as well. Nothing else so far
Hi, I do no think that they are different. Just a misleading picture on the front of the Polybag. If you look at the video posted here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7S3UkDO1PK8 you can see that they appear to be the same figure
Such a shame its not chromed…genuinely disapointed now; and I was so excited about this.
Chroming minifigures is not feasible since the paint tends to rub off with extended play.
They’ve done it pretty successfully in the past, can’t see why it’d be an issue now?
You’ll see when you’re older.
See what mate? Older than what I’m not exactly a child…?
In those instances, the figure was meant for display only.
I actually like it better this way, because if you notice in the film, C-3PO’s finish is less polished/chrome and more brushed. I guess they got tired of buffing out all his scratches all the time.
