You guys might have already seen these images but earlier today while I was away at retail life again, Brickset has posted some images of the winter wave of 2016 LEGO Star Wars sets which was subsequently spread to other LEGO media outlets. The images come from a leaflet that’s included with the 30605 Finn (FN-2187) minifigure polybag which shows the sets that will be coming out in January as well as the minifigures for the sets.
Now that you’ve seen the images of this wave of sets, what do you guys think of them. Discuss below! Thanks to everyone who emailed me about it. I did see these images but didn’t have time to post about them.

I like the look of all these sets, but 75131 looks like it has yellow minifig heads on 3 of the figures, I wonder if that’s just a printing error or not
It might just be yellow tinted visors on the helmets.
yeah thats what i think. Lego has an agreement that they will not color any licensed mining yellow
Or it mit just be a new tip of yellow headed alliens in star wars7?
no. one of them has the flesh colored hands
Become you don’t like or you like the color cell yellow tinted visor on the box-art of the Lego Star Wars boxes.
-I’m hoping the droid escape pod scene is at a decent price this time, the last one they released was stupidly expensive, which is a shame, since it’s a really neat way to snap up both R2 and 3PO in a small set.
-Similarly, the carbonite freezing scene looks like another easy way to get two iconic minifigs, especially Boba Fett, who really couldn’t get any better at this point. Plus, you get the less iconic, but unique, Ugnaught!
-Weren’t they releasing a UCS Hoth set? Is this tiny one meant to be a add-on? Also, if it’s the probe attack scene, where’s Chewie?
-Those are quite a few battle packs…
What’s the matter with battle packs, I personally like them for expanding my armies without getting a dozen sig figs in the process.
Got nothing against battle packs in the slightest. I was actually worried they were phasing out the concept, but I was happily wrong.
The battle packs I think are proving just as much a gold mine as releasing larger sets with significant vehicles, scenarios, and figures. I personally feel that they could have done more with Star wars the old republic, but hey, beggars can’t be choosers.
Battle packs are just as important to Lego Star Wars as some of the bigger sets, and are really a win-win for both the manufacturer and the consumer, to the point where they are beginning to show up in other themes.
I have seen similar ideas in Castle and maybe pirates, but otherwise not much elsewhere. They also did a bit of it in LEGO Middle Earth, but right now it is only surviving because of LEGO Dimensions. There is so much that they did not do with that theme.
And it’s such a brilliant concept too, they easily manufacture a bunch of identical minifigs and a tiny build, we get good value for money. Unfortunately the company licensing their theme doesn’t always want sets like these made, since it basically means people getting their characters for a a lower price.
Thing is with say, LOTR, who’s holding it back, Time Warner or the Tolkien family?
yeah they probably didn’t print the really big sets though
I’m gonna be in a pinch finding actual blasters to replace all of those stud shooters.
i know right
WHY ARE THERE SO MANY STUD SHOOTERS?!?!
I believe they are trying a new angle in the name of playability. While they have impressive range, they are not settling well with realists. To the point where the company had to issue a letter of explanation.
Letter? Do you have a link to said letter?
It was a while back so I do not remember where exactly, but I do remember LEGO having to explain the stud shooters.
Well, I keep up with pretty much everything Lego SW and I never saw or heard of such an explanation….. nor would I expect them to give one.
The images were originally posted on Brickset 🙂
Thanks for clarifying!
the carbon freezing chamber is kinda lame unless they release a full cloud city set
Yes! You know, we haven’t had a Cloud City version of Lando since the original one back in 2003?
Like you said elsewhere though, they probably aren’t showing any of the bigger sets here.
will the hot set be a battle pack or a $20 set because it looks a little big for a battle pack…
Well, its got 3 minifigs, and a decent number of parts, so maybe $25, or $30 if they want to bump up the price like they do.
the only good things are the force awakens stormtroopers that you can get at a fairly low price and if you look carefully there is a new molded jetpack that you can stick studs to the bottom thrusters to make it appear as if it were emitting the flames
I see the Lego Star Wars 2016 Winter Wave set Images at Facebook arealy and also can the newer Lego Star Wars 2016 Winter Wave set or coming soon is awesome man!
Oh wow!
