In a pleasant surprise, the LEGO The Simpsons theme returns this year with the LEGO Icons The Simpsons: Krusty Burger (10352). The set has 1,635 pieces and will retail for $209.99. As an incentive to purchase the set when it releases from June 1-7, LEGO is also releasing the Living Room (5009325) as a gift with purchase set.

Minifigures
There are seven minifigures in the set, Homer, Bart, Lisa, Farmer Krusty, Sideshow Bob, Squeaky-Voiced Teen (aka Jeremy Freedman), and Officer Lou.
This version of Homer is a new variant from his previous minifigures but the only difference is that his white shirt is now stained. Everything else about him is the same. His accessory is a brick-built drink.

Bart is almost the same minifigure as from the Series 1 minifigures. The only difference is that the red shirt is now plain and not with the slingshot printed on the back. That is because he now has the slingshot as an accessory.

Lisa unfortunately is the exact same minifigure from the Series 1 minifigures down to the saxophone for the accessory. The skirt piece has been slightly updated with the two holes for the legs but its pretty much the same.

Krusty the Clown is in his farmer outfit from Coming to Homerica. He is seen wearing some dark blue overalls with the old straw hat.

Sideshow Bob is a new character to the theme and he is shown wearing a lime green shirt with blue pants. The head has him with his recognizable palm tree style hair. His accessory is a pie.

Officer Lou is also a new character in LEGO form and he has his standard blue police uniform. The head is specially molded with the cap. His accessory is a coffee cup.

Lastly we have the Squeaky-Voiced Teen (aka Jeremy Freedman). Also a new character, he wears a lime green shirt that has his name badge printed on the front. His face is full of pimples (my god, you’re greasy). His accessory is a mop.

Build
Aside from the Krusty Burger restaurant itself, there are also some smaller builds in the set. First is the family car that Homer decorates up when he is hired as Krusty the Clown’s stand-in.

The car is the pink one but with lime green and teal decorations all around. The front bumper area has a sticker with Krusty’s face. The hood has a couple of stickers for the speed holes. There’s even a dent on the left side of the hood as well.

The car can seat two minifigures although you have to stick their arms up a little for the window clearance.

The trunk can open up but there’s not much room to put anything large there.

The other build aside from the restaurant is the Krusty Burger pole sign. The sign is held up by Technic pins. The burger on the sign has stickers showing Krusty Burger and it even has 1×2 round tiles for the fingers holding it. Krusty’s hair uses some new cloud plates in turquoise. The eyes and mouth use stickers and the eyes are actually applied off-centered.

On to the Krusty Burger restaurant, there are a lot of small details all around the outside. At the front door side, we have the drive-thru window and the front door which has a sticker showing over twelve served.

On the adjacent side, there’s not much going on here except for the bushes and the drive-thru entrance sign.

On the back side wall, there are more stickers for detailing. One is a campaign poster for Sideshow Bob when he runs for mayor. Right below it is Bart’s El Barto graffiti tag. On the other side of the vents, there’s a wanted poster for The Krusty Burglar. You can just hear the kid crying out, “stop, sto-oo-op, he’s already de-eaa-aad!”

The last side wall has the drive-thru menu and speaker box and the overfilled grease disposal.

Heading to the inside of the restaurant, the drive-thru menu wall opens up to reveal a very colorful interior. The two hinged sections are held in place by some clips.

On one of the hinged sections, we have the order counter and the kitchen area. The registers have stickers of seemingly random numbers but they’re actually a couple of the many Easter eggs in the set. One of the registers has 6.15 which references Season 6 Episode 15 for Homie the Clown. The other register shows 847.63 which is the same price when Maggie was rung up during the Season 1 intro.

Also inside the kitchen is the Drederick Tatum Industrial Grill next to the french fries fryer using a pearl-gold piece as the fries. There’s also the ice cream machine that is out of order and a box of Krusty Burger Inc. coleslaw.

The other hinged section has the drive-thru area of the restaurant. There’s nothing much going on here but it has a microwave and the Buzz Cola dispenser. On the queue screen, the next order coming up is for someone who ordered 700 Krusty Burgers. This was actually Homer but he ran inside the restaurant to order and through the drive thru.

There’s also the restroom with a Ribwich poster next to the door. The toilet in the restaurant seems to have an issue as water is overfilling and all over the floor. The adjacent wall has a notice board.

At the main part of the restaurant, we have the red booth along with two more individual tables with food on top.

In the corner, we have the Krusty Kidz Zone which is just a ball pit.

Lastly, we have the roof section that just sits on top of the Krusty Burger. On one side, there’s a hinged escape hatch and the other side has a ventilation fan.

Results
Overall the LEGO Icons The Simpsons: Krusty Burger (10352) is a fun set to build but there are some glaring misses with it. The build is smaller than the Simpsons House (71006) and The Kwik-E-Mart (71016) while also being more expensive than them. The amount of various references to the show are nice but LEGO had to make them mostly stickers which is a bummer.
The minifigure selection is also questionable. Why have 3/4 of the Simpsons family and not include Marge or Maggie? On the flipside, why include Lisa when we could have any other character like Eddie, the other police officer to complement Lou. Homer and Bart are technically new minifigures but their changes are so small compared to their previous minifigures. An actual Krusty Burglar minifigure would’ve worked well too to go with the wanted poster.
As a Simpsons fan, I would’ve picked it up even if this set wasn’t sent for review although probably not at full price since it’s harder to justify a smaller set at higher price compared to the previous ones. The Living Room GWP may or may not be a good enough incentive for fans to get it during its initial release.

Thank you to LEGO for sending in this set for me to review. The content above represents my own opinion and not the company. Review sets sent in does not guarantee a positive review.
