Happy Chinese/Lunar New Year – Year of the Dragon

Happy Chinese/Lunar New Year to those who celebrate and why not spend some of the day to build some of the new LEGO Chinese Traditional Festival sets. This year, we celebrate the Year of the Dragon which is the most powerful animal on the Chinese Zodiac and has been long revered as a symbol of strength and good luck. LEGO has released a couple of the dragon sets this year with the Auspicious Dragon (80112) and the Year of the Dragon (40611) gift with purchase set.

LEGO Year of the Dragon (40611) Official Images

LEGO has finally revealed the upcoming LEGO Year of the Dragon (40611) gift with purchase set. The dragon is part of the ongoing series of LEGO zodiac animals which should be finishing up in a few years. There’s still no word on when the set will go live but I’m assuming it’ll be pretty soon since the Lunar New Year is just a few weeks away.

Mark the 2024 Lunar New Year with this LEGO® Year of the Dragon build-and-display set (40611) for ages 8 and up. The dragon model features the zodiac animal’s iconic big eyes and a movable tail. It comes with a brick-built base representing the sky and clouds, plus a red paper envelope symbolizing good wishes. A fun Lunar New Year gift idea for all the family to enjoy, this model is part of a collectible series of LEGO zodiac animals.

LEGO Year of the Dragon (40611) GWP Revealed

The LEGO Store on JD.com has revealed the upcoming 2024 LEGO Year of the Dragon (40611). Like with previous sets based on the Chinese Zodiac animals, the set represents the Dragon which is for 2024. It’ll most likely be available on the LEGO Shop some time in January as a gift with purchase set. There’s no information yet on the price requirements but it’s usually around the $80-$88 range since the Chinese pronunciation for eight sounds similar to the word fortune.

Thanks to Dylan Chow who was able to access JD.com to grab the images.
