LEGO Super Mario 2023 Sets Revealed

LEGO has revealed the 2023 LEGO Super Mario wave on LEGO Shop but they are a continuation of the existing sets and not for the upcoming movie. Nevertheless, the are all expansion sets for various areas in the Mario Universe. The sets will be available starting on January 1.


Character Packs – Series 6 (71413) – $5.99

Give kids new play options with collectible toy LEGO® Super Mario™ Character Packs – Series 6 (71413) for ages 7 and up. Each pack contains a buildable character with an Action Tag, plus a small build to use as a display stand or to enhance play. There are 8 LEGO Super Mario characters to collect: Birdo, a Green Toad, an Ice Bro, a Bramball, 2 Cat Goombas in 1 pack, a Blooper (with 3 baby Bloopers), a Sumo Bro and a Spike. Each is designed to be used with a Starter Course set (71360, 71387 or 71403), which is required for interactive play.

LEGO Adds Another Promo with The Mighty Bowser (71411) Purchase

It looks like LEGO has thrown in another promotion when you purchase the new The Mighty Bowser (71411). They are now also offering the Yellow Yoshi’s Fruit Tree Expansion Set (30509) polybag as a gift as well. This is on top of the Ray the Castaway (40566) and the Spooky VIP Add On Pack (40513) that you’re already getting. Note that Yoshi’s Fruit Tree was given out back in August and the promo ran until September.

Update: The polybag is actually for all LEGO Super Mario purchases of $40 or more. This is the exact same promo as before.

LEGO Nominated for September 2022 Toy of the Year Awards

The September Toy of the Year 2022 nominations have been announced and LEGO is in the running again for a few categories. Normally, the TOTY awards are given in February but they have shifted it to a new fall timeline to give companies the opportunity to promote their products during the holiday shopping season. LEGO isn’t nominated that much as with previous ones but they are still in five.

The promotion for the LEGO Super Mario Yellow Yoshi’s Fruit Tree (30509) polybag with LEGO Super Mario of $40 or more. This promo runs until September 15, while supplies last. It also doubles up with the LEGO Pirates and Treasure VIP Add On Pack (40515) so it’s nice to have two promos that overlap. Remember to use Rakuten to earn some cash back on your purchases.

If you’re overseas, the promotion for the LEGO DOTS Pencil Holder (40561) is also live with purchases of City, DOTS, and Friends products. You have to check the purchase requirements for each country. This promo will run in North America later this month.

LEGO The Mighty Bowser Statue Revealed for San Diego Comic Con 2022

Although the LEGO exclusives haven’t been revealed yet, they have shown off the brick-built The Mighty Bowser that fans can take a picture with at San Diego Comic Con 2022. Standing at 14 feet, Bowser consists of 663,900 pieces and took the team around 3,290 to design and put together. It will be displayed at the Nintendo Booth #235.

LEGO Super Mario The Mighty Bowser (71411) Designer Video

LEGO has released the designer video for the new LEGO Super Mario The Mighty Bowser (71411) which was a nice surprise announcement. LEGO designer Carl Merriam talks about some of the play features of the set which really can’t be demonstrated in static images which includes the moving head and the fireball shooting mouth and the jumping legs. Senior Play Designer Didier Agani talks about the interactive feature with the Super Mario figure and how it ties in to Bowser.

The Mighty Bowser will be available starting on October 1 for $269.99.

LEGO has revealed a brand new LEGO Super Mario set with The Mighty Bowser (71411). Releasing on October 1, the set has 2,807 pieces and will retail for $269.99. The build features a brick-built Bowser that is to his likeness and is standing in part of his castle.
