LEGO Technic Top Gear Teaser Turns Out to be Already Released Rally Car (42109)

A few days ago, LEGO did a teaser on Facebook of something The Stig from Top Gear was working on at the LEGO HQ but unfortunately, LEGO themselves were very slow on their reveals as it was for something that has been available for a few months already. If you watched the video, it was for the LEGO Technic App-Controlled Top Gear Rally Car (42109) and I’m not sure why LEGO decided to run this video now instead of last year when it was announced back in November. Sorry to have gotten your hopes up for something that I thought was for an upcoming set like the Fast & Furious set or the Lamborghini set.

LEGO Technic Top Gear Teaser on Facebook

Yesterday, the LEGO Technic team shared a teaser video of The Stig from Top Gear working on a secret project. The first half of the video shows him driving a green Porsche 911 GT3 RS. If you pause the video when he shows the passport, it shows a date of April 31 so that could be a clue, possibly for a reveal or a release date.

Earlier this year, LEGO did announce a LEGO Fast & Furious partnership and there’s a chance that it could be the blue Porsche from Fast Five. I’m just making guesses but the connections are somewhat there. The only thing that doesn’t mesh up is that the press release for the LEGO Technic Fast & Furious set will be available on April 27.

LEGO Fast & Furious Set Rumored for 2020

There’s a new LEGO 2020 set rumor that has stirred the pot again that could feature The Fast and the Furious franchise. Brick Fanatics is reporting that we could see a set based on something from the popular franchise. The rumor is that the set will be a larger style vehicle and not minifigure based. There were also rumors a few months ago that it could be a LEGO Technic Ultimate set based on Brian’s 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS from the first movie, similar to the Bugatti Chiron (42083).

It’ll be interesting to see how the Eclipse or any other Fast & Furious vehicle is translated into LEGO whether it be Technic style or maybe something for the Creator line. It’s worth noting that Fast & Furious 9 will be hitting theaters in May so there could be a cross-promotion for the movie and the set around that time. As always, these are strictly rumors until LEGO announces it.
