A few days ago, LEGO announced that the LEGO BIONICLE theme will be discontinued at the end of 2016 which saddened many fans of the theme. To send it off with a bang, LEGO ReBrick has launched a new building competition called The Makuta Challenge. The contest is pretty simple, create your own version of the evil overlord Makuta using mostly Constraction and Technic parts and submit your entries on ReBrick. The deadline to submit your entry is September 5, 2016.

There are some cool prizes for the winners which you can check out below:

I have that t-shirt from Comic Con NYC 2014. Love it.
I love how you win EVERY set. They sold so poorly they are giving them away. 🙂
Hmm…I can’t recall seeing the mask on the largest version of Makuta before…or those purple cloth pieces…or the disk in the middle of his staff…is he going to be a set? I hope so! It would be great to end the line with Makuta himself. (plus I really want an updated version)
Also, to the best of my recollection, there have only been 33 Bionicle sets released. In the video it sounds like they say either 35 or 45, but either way it would seem that we still have a few more sets to go…
A signed copy of an art book? I think Lego can do a better job on the prize side of things. But who knows it could be an amazing book? (I hope so) Wait so can we use older Bionicle sets? I guess so because it says technique parts? Or does it HAVE to be hero factory like stuff?
