I’m sorry, but this has to be the worst LEGO Ideas set yet. The builds are so basic.

    chalk up another lego failure…

the original idea that was submitted was much better.

there was a ton of other characters, and the characters had the limb ball joints in their respective colors… instead, lego made them with the same gray joints as always, so they look like animatronics. not to mention that they used black parts for BMO’s limbs, when they made those arms in the right color for the dimensions BMO… also they got rid of bubblegum’s “hips” and made her one giant block. also, notice how they flipped the axe blade parts on Marceline’s guitar making it into a normal red guitar instead of her axe bass, almost as though they don’t know anything about the show and thought they were facing the wrong way by accident. (axe-ident… lol) and i don’t care for rainicorns lumpy unikitty tail hair compared to the original, which was brighter and looked more accurate.
lego hasn’t ever made blocky figures like this, so it’s kinda a weird one for them to have done it at all… it’s pretty sad that they did such a poor job with their first attempt, especially when it was already designed and ready for them. i do like that they made printed faces for them, but that doesn’t really make up for how much they butchered it.

There are a few places in the original where the designer used a stack of bricks, but Lego chose to go with a mish-mash pattern, like on PB’s dress, giving it an asymmetrical look. Too bad. As for the grey/black ball joints, I don’t expect Lego to make a part in a new color for Ideas. That seems to be a thing. They have substituted parts in the past if the don’t currently have the original part in production in the correct color.

It’s Lego, so we can always rebuilt it to look better ha ha. Other hobbies don’t have that luxury.

they made that new 2017 pizza slice part in white as a decoration for the yellow submarine, and mixels have been out for a while now (getting discontinued soon?) so I kinda feel like it’s about time they started making those joints in new colors… it’s not that hard, just use another color of plastic in the mold… bootlegers do it all the time. (I got an orange kylo ren “t” lightsaber…)
but yeah, luckily lego stuff is easy to modify. in this case it seems the set is more lacking than being in need of rearranging though.

I have no idea what that show is so, of course, those figures have absolutely no appeal to me and I can’t imagine why anyone would pay $50 for it.

With the Dimensions sets coming with actual minifigs of some of these characters (despite Jake the dog looking weird), I can’t imagine getting this over getting actual minifigs. I’m also guessing that now that they are invested in adventure time, Lego will be coming out with more sets and more minifigs (tree house, etc)
