Earlier today, there was a LEGO Marvel Super Heroes building event at Toys R Us stores around the US. The model for this event was a 72-piece Captain America mosaic. My friend Charlie has sent over a scan of the instructions for the build. Although it looks like tile pieces were used for the event, they were actually standard bricks so it’ll be pretty easy to make your own if you have the parts.

I was about to say that anyone who needs instructions to build this needs their AFOL card revoked, but I see that Neoape posted a promotional photo that shows the final model is not built entirely with 1×1 bricks on a 16×16 plate like the Batman/Superman logos from a few years ago. More interesting, the promotional model uses no 2×6 bricks, and has a lopsided chin (black 1×3 brick instead of 1×2).
how are there 2×3 tiles and 2×6 plates
2×6 plates have been around for years, but this model is built entirely with bricks over a 16×16 plate. The lack of studs in the “instructions” keeps the single image from being so cluttered that kids can’t figure out which pieces go where.
ohhh, I thought it was 2×6 studless plates
