Long-time reader Daniel has emailed in letting us know that LEGO Shop@Home UK has updated their Retiring Soon page and there are some sets that you may want to pick up before they’re gone forever. The US page hasn’t been updated yet but the UK page lets us know which sets will be next to go soon.
LEGO sets usually have a one to two year shelf life while some sets sometimes can last a lot longer while others may be pulled within a year so it’s kind of hard for regular shoppers to guage what sets may be on the shelves.
Below is a list of current sets that have been listed on the UK Retiring Soon page. If you’ve been on the fence on picking them up, now would be a great time to especially with the Double VIP Points event going on. Amazon also has some decent sales on the sets if you prefer that route.

Well, it makes sense. All of these sets are pretty old, except for Wall-E and Dr. Who. Aren’t they pretty recent?
They are, but maybe they’re a smaller run that they don’t plan on producing more of?
That’s kind of unfair. I mean, look at the Ghostbusters set!
GB is two years old http://brickset.com/sets/21108-1/Ghostbusters-Ecto-1
Where the pet shop is 5 http://brickset.com/sets/10218-1/Pet-Shop
I have no information but my own speculation so take it as it is. GB is an ideas set, which from the start Lego said would be limited runs. The Pet Shop for example is a pricy niche set that may have sold slower than GB. There’s real world costs to running sets through manufacturing. They must do some cost/benefit analysis to determine when to stop production of sets. Drop in sales, cost to produce, etc must all play a role.
Not saying it doesn’t stink. There’s many sets in my life I missed due to lack of funds, or plain old not realizing they were retiring. At least we get a bit of warning now. Almost a “last call” if you will.
A few more Dr Who sets would have been nice.
