LEGO BIONICLE to be Discontinued at End of 2016

LEGO BIOINICLE

You may or may not have read about it this morning but today marks a sad day in the LEGO community as LEGO has announced that LEGO BIONICLE will be discontinued at the end of 2016 after a two year run.

LEGO BIONICLE was pretty popular when it came back in 2015 and the CCBS community was back in full swing with the revival. There’s no mentioning on why LEGO has decided to end the theme but safe bets are due to lack of sales. LEGO did mention that the final wave of BIONICLE sets will be coming to Europe and North America but will not be released in Asia and the Pacific markets. This usually happens when themes or subthemes are ending such as LEGO Legends of Chima and the LEGO Star Wars Planets sets.

THE CONCLUSION OF “THE JOURNEY TO ONE” MARKS THE END FOR LEGO® BIONICLE® GENERATION 2

Fans, today we have to share the news with you that we have made the tough decision to discontinue LEGO® BIONICLE® at the end of 2016. NETFLIX has just started streaming the final two episodes of “The Journey to One” the ending of which, will put an end to any speculation about the future of LEGO® BIONICLE®.

With the 2015 relaunch of LEGO® BIONICLE®, we set out to revive a childhood favorite of fans worldwide, and bring it to a new group of children who were too young to have known and played with LEGO® BIONICLE® Generation 1. From your wonderful feedback over the last

LEGO Launches New Minisite Called Remake

LEGO Remake

Yesterday, LEGO launched a new minisite called Remake which is pretty much a site to provide building instructions to create alternative models using official LEGO sets. The are seven different fan designers who will be helping out with the site including Attila Baranyai, Bertrand Lequy, Jason Allemann, Nicola Lugato, Peter Szabo, Tomas Vit, and Youngil Kim.

The alternate builds are separated in full and partial remakes. The full remakes use a majority of the parts from the official sets while the partial remakes only use some of them. Each build gives you a small description of what it is as well as the parts list and the instructions which you can download as a PDF file. Currently, Remake only has builds from some LEGO City sets.

You may wonder why LEGO released Remake since there is already Rebrickable which does almost the same thing. Natham Thom from Rebrickable released a blog post today explaining that he actually had a hand in helping create the new website although it was released not fully complete. LEGO has released a statement regarding why the site isn’t complete.

As you might have heard and seen, we launched a new site on LEGO.com called LEGO® Remake. The intention with this site is to provide older children with creative inspiration to what alternative builds they can make with existing LEGO® sets.

In order to provide the inspiration, we reached out to 7 amazing fan designers through Nathan Thom, the owner of Rebrickable. The Rebrickable website inspired the LEGO Remake project and over

LEGO Shop@Home Update (Switzerland)

LEGO Shop@Home Update

LEGO has been making changes to Shop@Home and today they unveiled a new update to the site for Switzerland. These updates will be coming to other countries in the future but you can play around with the Swiss version in the meantime. LEGO has also provided us with a survey to provide feedback about the new updates.

So far to me, the new Shop@Home update is a little smoother and loads a little faster since it uses Bootstrap for the coding. One thing I really don’t like about it are the huge banners since they take up a lot of real estate and many people do not like scrolling down. Plus the products page doesn’t show as many products so you have to scroll down more to see them all. I feel that many of you may not like the change since the current site is more than adequate for their needs.

Again, feel free to send feedback to LEGO about what you think about the new LEGO Shop@Home update.

LEGO Minecraft Skin Packs Coming in September

LEGO Minecraft Skin Packs (853609)

Earlier today, LEGO has announced they will be releasing some new LEGO Minecraft Skin Packs which will be releasing in September. These Skin Packs are basically new exclusive minifigures to be used with your Minecraft sets. They have the set numbers 853609 and 853610 and each minifigure has a unique look to them, especially the ones that look very similar to Boba Fett and Han Solo.

As far as pricing goes, there’s no word on that at this time. Based off the set numbers, these LEGO Minecraft Skin Packs will most likely be exclusive to LEGO Brand Stores and on Shop@Home.
