We are down to just 11 days left in the LEGO Star Wars 2014 Advent Calendar (75056). Let’s see what we get for Day 14, shall we?
LEGO News, LEGO Reviews, and Discussions
We’re back with the latest addition to the LEGO Star Wars 2014 Advent Calendar (75056).
It seems like we’re getting a solid trend now of what we can expect to get. With every notable vehicle, there seems to be a relevant minifigure coming the next day. Yesterday we got Luke’s Landspeeder and for Day 13 we get Luke Skywalker himself. This version of Luke is is the Episode IV one with him in his white robes which only appears in two other sets, the Mos Eisley Cantina (75052) and the UCS Sandcrawler (75059)
.
He has a double-sided head with a smirk on one side and a stern look on the other. One criticism that I’ve seen about this particular Luke minifigure is that his face is, well it’s ugly. There’s too much detailing on it with the wrinkles and it makes him look a little old.
Overall, I don’t have much against this version of Luke Skywalker. It’s a nice addition although I already have him already in the other two sets he’s in.
Our friends over at The Brick Show Shop is having holiday sale on all of their products. They have a coupon to get 20% off your purchase. Just use the coupon code “santaiscool” to get the savings. The offer is valid until next Thursday, December 18th.
One thing they are featuring is the LEGO Skeeballl Machine which is their newest addition to the LEGO Arcade theme they have going. The set comes with 100% official parts, online instructions, and the decals to go on it.
If you missed out on Double VIP Points back in October, you’ll be glad to know that LEGO will be having a 2x Points event tomorrow, December 14th. This event will be available at LEGO Brand Stores, Shop@Home, and orders over the phone. This is essentially the first time that you can earn Double Points on some 2015 sets for various themes including LEGO CIty
, LEGO Creator
, LEGO Minecraft
, and LEGO TECHNIC
. The event will end at 11:59pm EST.
Just as we earlier reported that the LEGO Disney Princess Elsa’s Sparkling Ice Castle (41062) have been spotted in various Target locations in the US, I’ve been told that you can now pre-order the set on Amazon. Like at other locations, the set will be available on January 1st with pricing at $39.99 and is also eligible for FREE Prime shipping when the order is processed but may take additional processing time. Thanks to Chris for the heads up.
Update: Sorry folks. Apparently the pre-order option has been taken down after 30 minutes of this post going up. Don’t be fooled by the third-party sellers that have prices of $100+.
Can you believe we are already halfway done with the LEGO Star Wars 2014 Advent Calendar (75056)?
For Day 12, we get another mini model from the Original Trilogy, Luke’s Landspeeder. This has got to be the best thing we’ve got out of this year’s Advent Calendar so far. The model captures everything that the Landspeeder is from the design to the colors. Although the design is nice, it has already been used before in the Landspeeder Bag Charm (852245) back in 2008 but with some new colors. Overall, I love this mini model and it’ll be fairly hard to top it during the second half of the LEGO Star Wars 2014 Advent Calendar.
Here’s some news that many of you have been waiting for. There are now reports of the LEGO Disney Princess Elsa’s Sparkling Ice Castle (41062) starting to show up at Target stores, most notably in the southeastern states. They might not be on the shelves but the stores may already have shipments in the warehouse ready although they may not be able to sell them. Some of the sets have even shown up on eBay at outrageous prices. For some lucky few, you could possibly find the set in stores before Christmas. If not, it will be widely available on January 1st. There’s a slight chance that other retailers like Toys R Us may release it early as well. I’ll let you guys know if I see them on the floor waiting to be shelved.

Elsa’s Sparkling Ice Castle (41062) is probably one of the most anticipated sets of 2015 but many wondered why LEGO doesn’t release it for the holiday season to catch in on the Frozen craze. LEGO CEO Jorgen Vig Knudstorp in an interview has noted that, “It’s not so important for us with Frozen.” He also added, “It is definitely across all categories a very strong property, a wonderful movie, but for us, it’s a minor thing.” While the set may not make the best-selling toys list for 2014, it may be a contender in 2015.
