To celebrate the Best Picture Nominees for the 86th Academy Awards, Yahoo has put together a series of 9 posters of the nominated movies in LEGO form. The nominees include American Hustle, 12 Years a Slave, Captain Phillips, Dallas Buyers Club, Gravity, Her, Nebraska, Philomena, and The Wolf of Wall Street. The Oscars will be hosted by Ellen Degeneres on Sunday, March 2nd.
IGN has posted some outtakes from The LEGO Movie. The outtakes shows various scenes from the movie characters’ perspective. They aren’t actually outtakes but they’re pretty funny nonetheless. The LEGO Movie looks to dominate the box office again this week after opening with a whopping $69.1 million last week. Check out the video below.
One of our fellow readers has found one of the new 2014 LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes polybags, The Batman Tumbler (30300), at Target stores. They were at stocked at the impulse check-out lanes for $3.99 each. We’ve reported that this polybag was found last month at a LEGOLAND Discovery Center but I believe this is the first time that we’ve seen these polybags in US stores. If you’ve been trying to get The LEGO Movie Pyjamas Emmet (5002045) minifigure polybag, Best Buy could be your answer. Best Buy was having a promotion of having the minifigure as a bonus for purchasing The LEGO Movie Video Game. According to a user on Reddit, a user purchased them separately without buying the game as seen from the image below. I’m not sure if this is allowed by store policy but it doesn’t hurt to go try and see. If you’ve tried purchasing Pyjamas Emmet this way, let us know in the comments below if it worked or not.
The LEGO Movie Action Cups are now available at McDonald’s and I’ve managed to collect all 8 cups. The action part of the cups is the lenticular feature that they have. Each cup features a portrait of a character in the movie with their names as well as a scene that changes. If you haven’t seen the movie yet (what are you waiting for?), the some scenes on the cups may contain spoilers.
Emmet
Emmet’s cup shows him smiling and holding a hammer. The scene shows him falling into another brick dimension.
Batman
Batman switches from normal to angry expressions and holding his Batarang. The scene shows him arriving in his Batmobile to rescue Wyldstyle and Emmet.
Bad Cop/Good Cop
Bad Cop switches to Good Cop and he holds a microphone. The scene shows Bad Cop’s flying police car and the 4×4 SWAT car chasing Wyldstyle. You also see Sheriff-Not-A-Robot.
MetalBeard
MetalBeard’s portait doesn’t really show much. It just shows him raising his cannon arm and his other shark-attached arm. His scene shows the Sea Cow being attacked by Super Secret Police Dropships.
Vitruvius
**Spoilers Ahead** Vitruvius’ cup shows his young version as well as his older blinded version. The scene shows him and Emmet looking at a bird imagined by Emmet.
President/Lord Business
President Business’ portrait shows him smiling with his coffee cup while his Lord Business version shows him in his menacing outfit. The scene him riding a mech that I don’t remember seeing in the movie. I could be wrong though.

The LEGO Movie’s The Emmet Awards have begun and kids up to 18 years old can enter the first contest of directing their own trailer. You can create the trailer by using LEGO’s very simple app. Drag and drop various scenes into the timeline to create a full 12-scene trailer. After that, select your trailer image cover and choose your tags and you’re done. Below are some of the rules. Check out the full rules on the contest itself.
Contest #1: Begins on February 11, 2014 at 8:00AM Eastern Standard Time (“EST”) and ends on February 28, 2014 at 11:59PM EST.
Entries will be evaluated by the Judges based on the following criteria:
25%: Creativity
25%: Originality
20%: Awesomeness
20%: Overall fit and faithfulness to the Monthly Contest theme
10%: For Video and Music Editing Contests: Entertainment value and interesting use of the video and audio clips;
For Building Contests, the stability and structural integrity of the model.
