LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Great Hall (75954)

The 2018 New York Toy Fair is now over and there was a lot of LEGO news that came out that you may have missed so here’s a little recap of some of the more notable news items from the event.

LEGO Announces the Return of Harry Potter

Probably the biggest thing that LEGO announced during the Toy Fair was the return of Harry Potter in a new LEGO Wizarding World theme that encompasses both the Harry Potter universe as well as Fantastic Beasts. The first set that was revealed in this theme was the Hogwarts Great Hall (75954) which retails for a modest $99.99 for a 878 piece set. This set along with the rest of the wave will be available starting in August.

LEGO Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Sets Officially Revealed

The official images of all the LEGO Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom sets were revealed, minus the Walmart exclusive LEGO BrickHeadz sets. Here we get to see some of the new dinosaurs that will appear in the movie in LEGO form such as the Stygimoloch, Carnotaurus, and the Indoraptor.

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes The Hulkbuster: Ultron Edition (76105) Officially Announced

Some fans already knew about this set as it was already available in some Asian countries but during the Toy Fair, LEGO revealed The Hulkbuster: Ultron Edition (76105). The set has 1,363 pieces and retails for $119.99. It will be available starting on March 3 along with the rest of the Infinity War sets.

LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 18 Officially Revealed

We got our first look at the Series 18 LEGO Collectible Minifigures at the 2018 New York Toy Fair just a short while ago but LEGO has officially revealed the minifigures on social media. As mentioned before, there are 17 minifigures to collect and there are also reports that the Classic Policeman minifigure will come only per box so it makes him pretty rare right off the bat. It’s not Mr. Gold rare but it’ll still be obtainable. This wave is to commemorate 40 years of the LEGO minifigure and the Series 18 LEGO Collectible Minifigures will be available starting in April.

LEGO New York Toy Fair 2018 Press Release

LEGO has released a press release on what we can expect at the New York Toy Fair starting tomorrow.

They have already done some reveals today including the Hogwarts Great Hall (75954) and the return of Harry Potter with the Wizarding World theme. There’s also the image reveals for the LEGO Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom as well. Hopefully we’ll get to see more LEGO sets that we weren’t able to see before at the Nuremberg Toy Fair.

LEGO Announces the Return of Harry Potter

Just a short time ago, LEGO announced the return of the LEGO Harry Potter theme with the Hogwarts Great Hall (75954). At the same time at the 2018 New York Toy Fair, the LEGO Wizarding World theme was also announced. This theme will encompass both the original Harry Potter universe as well as Fantastic Beasts. In addition to the system sets, there will also be some LEGO BrickHeadz as well. The sets should start hitting shelves in August and we hope to see more at the Toy Faur this weekend. The Billion Brick Race Loses Director

Way back in 2015, I reported that Warner Bros. was working on a new animated LEGO film called The Billion Brick Race. Originally, Jason Segel and Drew Pearce were on board to co-direct the film but was eventually replaced with The Book of Life’s Jorge R. Gutierrez in 2017. Fast forward to today where Gutierrez has announced that he has also left the project.

“I would like to publicly and from the bottom of my heart thank everyone I worked with at Briksburg, LEGO and WAG. These last 9 months were a rollercoaster of thrills to say the least. I met so many amazing new people and learned a ton from all these incredible artists, directors, writers, editors, producers and execs. I leave a better filmmaker and it’s because of you all. The Billion Brick Race is still tentatively scheduled for a 2019 release which also includes The LEGO Movie Sequel releasing in the same year. There’s no word from Warner Bros. whether or not any of the two movies will be pushed back at this time.

I’ve read many comments saying that it is a substantial change from the architectural style we’ve had before but there are also fans that welcome the change as it is different from what we’ve previously gotten.
