LEGO has announced on the LEGO Ambassador Network that LEGO Con 2023 will not be held even though it seem pretty successful this year. It hasn’t been cancelled but more of a hiatus so hopefully it will return in 2024. Although the first event in 2021 was very hyped, it was underwhelming but the production value for 2022 was much better and how they did their product showcase and interviews. Hopefully LEGO still do something to reveal some of the fall releases even if it’s not an actual show.
The Japanese Castle by LEGOverwatch is the latest project to achieve 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas. The 2,997 piece build features a typical Japanese architectural structure with a garden on the side. The back is open to show the eight interior rooms.
The project joins Ancient Roman Temple, This is Fine, Castle Dracula, Pac-Man Moving Display, The Lost City, Japanese Courtyard Garden 坪庭, The Travel Suitcase, Pixar’s Up House With Balloons, BotW Temple of Time, Wright Flyer, Classic Thunderbirds, JWST, Golden Clifftop Temple, Cipher Machine, Sewer Heroes: Fighting the Fatberg, London Underground, The Architect’s House, Community, The Neverending Story (40th Anniversary), The Old Western Train Station, Zoo, Jaws, Modular Arcade, Cat, House of Open Shutters, Lover House, Jack Skellington’s House, The Clock Tower Park, Mechanical Flip Clock, The Alpine Refuge, Wallace & Gromit, and Holiday Village /Train (Working) as the ones to reach the Third 2022 Review Stage.
LEGO has officially announced the next set in the Modular Building Collection with the LEGO Icons Jazz Club (10312). Releasing on January 1, the set has 2,899 pieces and retails for $229.99. Like with other modulars, the floors and be removed to show various details inside the Jazz Club including a Pizzeria, a Managerial office, a Tailor’s workshop, and a Dressing Room. There’s also a greenhouse on the roof as well. Check out more images of the set below.
In addition, there will also be a change to the look of the building instructions. This mainly affects the adult-oriented sets as they migrate to the paper bags. This is to ensure that the visual appearance of the pags is not impacted by the ink marks caused by the friction during transportation.
As our fans have noticed, the covers of building instructions for many of our sets underwent a re-design this year with exception of our LEGO® sets for adults. Starting from 1HY 2023, building instructions for adult sets will also feature re-designed covers with lighter background prints. The redesign of building instruction covers is connected to our move to paper-based bags in our boxes. A lighter background print ensures that we maintain our very high quality standards. In this case, that the visual appearance of the paper-based bags is not impacted by potential ink marks caused by friction between building instructions and bags during transportation.

The LEGO Shop has revealed six new LEGO Harry Potter sets coming in March 2023. The sets feature some new banner sets that open up to reveal the rooms for the specific houses. There are also a few sets that that show particular scenes from the movies.
Harry Potter™ fans can show their Gryffindor™ house pride with this LEGO® brick-built house banner (76409). A super everyday gift for kids aged 9 and up, it features a printed tile with the Gryffindor house crest and a hanger to display it proudly on the wall. The banner also opens to reveal an enchanting recreation of the Gryffindor common room with authentic details including a fireplace, seats and a chess board. A slide-in lenticular backboard creates magical 3D effects, including an image of Sirius Black™ appearing in the fire and a trophy showing 1st or 4th place.
Harry Potter™ fans can demonstrate Slytherin™ house pride with this LEGO® brick-built house banner (76410). An ace everyday gift for kids aged 9 and up, it features a printed tile with the Slytherin crest and a hanger to display it on the wall. Although Wonder Woman 3 seems to be dead in the water, the LEGO DC Wonder Woman vs Cheetah (76157) from WW84 is currently on sale for 53% off on Amazon. The set has been discontinued and the price is now down to $18.99 which saves you $21 on it.

The LEGO Bricktober 2022 VIP rewards are starting to get into collectors’ hands and there’s one major difference between them and the original Bricktober sets that were available in the Asian/Canadian markets.
The original sets had a much more premium feel with the flip open box, however, the VIP set uses the standard yellow cardboard box which we’ve seen before with previous GWPs and rewards. It wasn’t mentioned with the Dragon Adventure Ride that it would come in the yellow box and everyone expected the other. The Pirate Adventure Ride did specify that it would be the yellow box version.
LEGO didn’t mention why they switched to the more plain version. I suspect that they didn’t know that it wasn’t going to be an APAC/Canada exclusive and the rest of the world would get them as well. Also it would’ve cost a lot more to roll out the harder flip top boxes than to use the cardboard ones.
There is still the Fantasy Adventure Ride (6427893) and Space Adventure Ride (6427896) left to be released but there’s no mentioning of when those will go up in the VIP Center.
If you’re a late shopper, today is the last day for LEGO Double VIP points on the LEGO Shop.
