LEGO Formula 1 Sets for the 2022 Season

Today is the first race of the 2022 F1 season in Bahrain and LEGO has recently released some new Formula 1 sets in various themes. First is the McLaren Formula 1 Race Car (42121) which has surprisingly been a hot set since its release at the beginning of the month with it being temporarily sold out. Fans of Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo would definitely try to pick up this beast as it has been over 15 years since LEGO has released a licensed Technic F1 car.

The other set is the Mercedes-AMG F1 W12 E Performance & Mercedes-AMG Project One (76909) which is not a bad set for only $29.99 as you get two cars. You would’ve think that LEGO had mispriced it but no. Given that price, it also not a shock that it has also sold out on the LEGO Shop. The W12 is driven by Lewis Hamilton and George Russell this season.

It has been featured in various films such as Bedknobs and Broomsticks, Paddington Bear, and Notting Hill.

The project now joins The Forestmen Secret Inn, The Legendary Concorde, Wild West Mine, LEGO Koala, LEGO Toilet, Mini City Diorama: London with Underground Station!, Steampunk Airship, The Kit-Cat Clock, Tales of the Space Age, The Library, Santa’s Cottage, Mech Patrol, The Polar Express – 20th Anniversary, Boeing 747 Cockpit, Sherlock Holmes – 221B Baker Street, Adventure Box, Wuppertaler Schwebebahn/Wuppertal Suspension Railway, Hanging Flowers, Polaroid OneStep SX-70, The Opera, Lancia Delta Integrale 16V Rally Car (1990), Castle of Brickwood Forest, Gilmore Girls House, Aladdin: Friend Like Me (30th Anniversary Special), The Market Village, Air Jordan 1, The Legend of the Sea Serpent, Magical Village Over the Bridge, and The Orient Express, A Legendary Train as the ones to reach the First 2022 Review Stage.

LEGO 90th Anniversary Castle Set Teased?

During yesterday’s reveal of the LEGO Back to the Future Time Machine (10300), there was a short animated video showing Doc and Marty going to different time periods. Their first stop may have also included a teaser for the upcoming LEGO 90th Anniversary Castle set.

The main part shows Marty standing in front of the castle looking for a piece required to go home. Just looking from the size of it compared to the minifigure, it’s huge. Shortly after, you can see some knights chasing Marty and you can clearly see two of them with the Lion Knights insignia on the torso.

There have been various reports that the set would be called the Lion King’s Castle (10305) and it would pay homage to the original King’s Castle (6080). The price of it would be about €349.99 and if the set is the one shown in the short, the price may be justified. We all know that LEGO likes to throw teasers in other sets and this was perhaps a great way to give us a taste of what’s to come.
