REIMAGINE VINCENT VAN GOGH’S ICONIC PAINTING WITH THE NEW LEGO IDEAS STARRY NIGHT SET
17th May, 2022: In tribute to Vincent van Gogh’s famous painting, the LEGO Group has revealed the LEGO® Ideas The Starry Night set. This beautiful set was designed by Truman Cheng, a 25-year old Hong Kong based LEGO fan, through a submission on the LEGO Ideas platform, and has been created in conjunction with The Museum of Modern Art in New York.
The three-dimensional set reimagines Vincent van Gogh’s renowned 1889 painting in LEGO form, with strong emphasis on the artist’s striking brush strokes and colour choice. Inspired by the view from his window at the Monastery of Saint-Paul de Mausole asylum in Saint-Rémy, France, where the artist spent twelve months, The Starry Night is one of the world’s most well-known post-impressionist works and has been a visitor favourite at MoMA since it first arrived in 1935.

Last week we reported that LEGO will be having an exclusive set at Star Wars Celebration but it’s confusing on what has transpired since then. The Virtual Panel and Exhibitor Shopping lottery went up today and I noticed that LEGO wasn’t part of the list anymore.
A reader who is going gave us a snippet of their conversation with customer service and it was noted that LEGO is exhibiting but was not part of the lottery exclusives. The wording of the description has also removed LEGO from the list which went up last week.

If you saw last week, another reader was able to get into some lottery for the LEGO BrickHeadz Obi-Wan Kenobi & Darth Vader (40547) when everything badges went live so I’m not really sure what’s going on there. I’m not going to Star Wars Celebration but if you can still see the BrickHeadz lottery, let us know. Was the LEGO lottery different than today’s lottery? It supposedly ends on May 20 at 12am CDT.

Tomorrow will be a big day for LEGO as there will be two large events happening within a span of a few hours. First is the relaunch of the Ulysses Space Probe on the LEGO Rewards Center. For the US, it’ll be up at 6am PT/9am ET for 1,800 VIP points.
• Australian and New Zealand: 17th May 09:00am AEST / 11:00am NZST
• Korea: 17th May 09:00am KST
• Europe: 17th May 09:00am CEST / 08:00am BST
• United States and Canada: 17th May 09:00am EDT
The other event is the start of the BrickLink Designer Program round 3 crowdfunding. It’s a rush to see which five projects out of the nine will reach 3,000 pre-orders for them to be produced. This round will start at 10am PT and will run until the minimum thresholds are reached.
