LEGO Technic Heavy-Duty Tow Truck (42128) Review

LEGO Technic Heavy-Duty Tow Truck (42128)

Next month, LEGO will be releasing some new flagship LEGO Technic sets and the first one I want to take a look at is the Heavy-Duty Tow Truck (42128). The set has 2,017 pieces and will retail for $149.99. I will preface this review by saying that I do not do Technic that much but I’ll try my best to cover the main parts of the set.

There are numbered bags to four as well as separate bags for some of the Technic beams and rubber tubes. For such a large amount of parts in the set, I’m surprised LEGO packed all the parts in only four sets of bags. Also included is one large instruction book as well as a decent sized sticker sheet.

The first set of bags are used for the frame of the Tow Truck. Here, you’ll find the main gear mechanism for the various features in the set. It may look complicated to non-Technic folk like me but it’ll make sense as you continue building.

As we move to the second set of bags, we are focusing on the middle and back of the truck, mainly the wheel lift arm and the rotating boom. The lift arm uses a piston to move the arm up and down using the pump right behind the cab. You can lift the whole rig up by turning the front-left gear on the left side of the truck.

LEGO Harry Potter Hermione’s Study Desk (30392) Polybag Revealed

There’s a new LEGO Harry Potter polybag that has surfaced on the LEGO building instructions page with Hermione’s Study Desk (30392). The polybag consists of 31 pieces but there’s no word yet on the pricing or if it’s a gift with purchase promotional item. If you can buy it, it’ll most likely be $4.99.

It features Hermione with the Hogwarts robes along with a desk and it even has a stand for the owl even though she didn’t really have an owl. The polybag also includes a mystery wizard card. Since they are randomly inserted into sets, this may be the cheapest way to collect them aside from buying directly from the secondary market.

LEGO BrickHeadz La Catrina (40492) Review

LEGO BrickHeadz La Catrina (40492)

LEGO latest offering for the LEGO BrickHeadz line is something that’s really interesting and different than what they’ve been doing which is La Catrina (40492). La Catrina is designed by José Guadalupe Posada and is the icon of the Mexican Día de Muertos, or Day of the Dead. The set has 141 pieces and will be available on August 1 for $9.99.

She wears a very colorful dress that’s in magenta with green and yellow accents. The dress is pretty fluffy as shown with the slopes on all four sides. The front of the dress has a printed 1×4 brick to show the collar.

La Catrina’s face is also printed with various tiles and it is decorated with some traditional designs as seen on other art pieces such as the dots around the face and the stitched mouth.

Her magenta colored hat is filled with decorations in the front lip which includes some flowers.

LEGO BrickHeadz La Catrina (40492)

Overall, the LEGO BrickHeadz La Catrina (40492) is a pretty unique BrickHeadz since it doesn’t really fit into any of their subthemes. I suppose it could be be Halloween related since the character is to celebrate the Day of the Dead. I really like the designs on it and I’m sure fans will customize it to their liking.

Thank you to LEGO for sending in this set for me to review. The content above represents my own opinion and not the company. Review sets sent in does not guarantee a positive review.
