LEGO Harry Potter The Monster Book of Monsters (30628) Confirmed for January 2021 GWP Release

Yesterday I reported that we could soon be seeing the LEGO Harry Potter The Monster Book of Monsters (30628) on the LEGO Shop and at LEGO Brand Stores and I can now confirm that we will indeed be getting next month. I’ve been told it’ll be available all January with purchases of $75 in LEGO Harry Potter products, while supplies last. It’ll be pretty easy to get if you’re planning on getting the new LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Moments sets.

LEGO Ideas Viking Village Achieves 10,000 Supporters

The Viking Village by BrickHammer is the latest project to achieve 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas. The build is based on the actual history of the Vikings and some of the buildings you may find during that time including a blacksmith, main hall, temple, and watch tower. It also proposes three minifigures as well.

The project now joins the Boeing 737 Passenger Plane, Colosseum (Architecture Style), Gravity Falls: The Mystery Shack, Brick Town Police Station, , Red Dwarf Starbug, Avatar: The Last Airbender – YIP YIP!, Classic Castle, Open MRI, Motorized Lighthouse, Avatar: The Illuminated World of Pandora, Spirited Away, Jumanji of 1995, Auto Union Type C Racecar, Automated Garbage Truck, The Car Wash, Wallace & Gromit, Among Us: The Skeld, Roman Warship, The Addams Family Mystery Mansion, and GMC – Blue Chip 100 [1957] as the ones that have reached the Third 2020 Review Stage.

LEGO Technic Land Rover Defender (42110) Amazon Sale – December 2020

The LEGO Technic Land Rover Defender (42110) is back on sale again at Amazon for 20% off the regular price. It is now priced at $159.99 which is a savings of $40 and that’s significant deal for a licensed Technic set. The only downside is that it’ll arrive after Christmas. Make sure you choose the Frustration-Free Packaging to get the deal. Thanks to JS for the heads up.

LEGO Harry Potter The Monster Book of Monsters (30628) Coming Soon to LEGO Shop?

For those who weren’t able to get the LEGO Harry Potter The Monster Book of Monsters (30628) from Barnes & Noble last month as part of a GWP or earlier this month by itself, you may have another chance on the LEGO Shop. There is now a product listing for the set which states it is a free item. If I were to guess, it’ll most likely be a promo item some time in January. We’re not sure of the exact date it will launch or the price threshold as the LEGO Store Calendar hasn’t been published yet but we’ll let you know once we have some info.

LEGO Batman 1989 Batmobile (76139) Roof Change Reasoning

A few weeks ago, we reported that the LEGO Batman 1989 Batmobile (76139) was given new parts for the cockpit roof and LEGO has given an explanation why they changed it. The reasoning is as obvious as you think which is the 6×6 tile has a matte finish to it along with an injection point in the middle. Since there is now a the new 2×6 tile, LEGO decided to update the Batmobile with the new parts, three of them to be exact. LEGO suggests to hold off on requesting the new parts until February or March but I’ve already suggested contacting customer service about it which many of you have already done. The Batmobile is still out of stock on the LEGO Shop but it is available on Amazon with shipping still arriving before Christmas.

As everyone has speculated, the change was done due to the creation of the new 2×6 tile. The 6×6 tile has a non polished surface and with the creation of this new 2×6 tile element the project team decided to update the current model to make this iconic car look even greater 🙂

If you would like the new roof I would recommend holding off requesting until February or March. This request is done with understanding that many kids lose parts or having missing parts from their Christmas presents.

You can report the elements “missing” on LEGO.com, hopefully in a few months :), and the parts will be on their way.

LEGO 2020 Employee Gift – Celebrating 40 Years of Hands-On Learning (4002020) Revealed

LEGO Celebrating 40 Years of Hands-On Learning (4002020)

Each year LEGO gives their employees a limited edition set as a Christmas gift and for 2020, LEGO celebrates the 40th anniversary of the LEGO Education theme with this set. As a LEGO Ambassador, we were also given this gift as a present as well. There’s no official set name but the included pamphlet titles it Celebrating 40 Years of Hands-On Learning (4002020) so that’s what we’re calling it.

The back of the box talks about the LEGO gearwheel which also celebrates its 50th year since it was introduced and it is mainly featured in this set.

LEGO Celebrating 40 Years of Hands-On Learning (4002020)-2

It’s been 40 years since LEGO Education was established and 50 years since the introduction of the first universal LEGO gearwheel. We mark this double anniversary with this special LEGO Education-inspired model, full of festive magic. Enjoy.

The 919 piece model features a couple of elves working in their workshop getting some presents ready. When you turn the wheel on the right side, pretty much everything goes into motion including the Christmas tree spinning, the elves moving, and the conveyor belt rotates to reveal presents on the line.

As a collector, I usually keep these sets sealed but there are plenty of reviews of it online that you can check out. The set has been sold online on the secondary market for a while now but we held off on sharing it so that LEGO employees can be surprised for their gift. Thank you to the LEGO Engagement Team for their work and generosity this year!
