Two Projects Pass LEGO Ideas First 2018 Review Stage

LEGO Ideas Flintstones

The results of the LEGO Ideas First 2018 Review are in and LEGO has announced that, not one, but two projects will become official sets next year. The first set is the Treehouse by Kevin Feeser which looks great in its own right. I’m curious to see how big it’ll actually be considering the project had 2,643 pieces.

The other project that passed is actually a surprise and it is The Flintstones by Andrew Clark. I’ve seen the project in person when I was at Philly Brick Fest and I will say that it looks great in person. I’m sure that LEGO will modify it just a little bit to make it work for them as the parts count including minifigures is 770 pieces. It’s interesting to see The Flintstones as a license because there were hints that LEGO may have already had the stage was in LEGO Dimensions a few years ago.

LEGO Star Wars Kessel Mine Worker (40299) Available at Barnes & Noble

LEGO Star Wars Kessel Mine Worker (40299) Barnes & Noble

For the past year or so, LEGO has been releasing exclusive LEGO Star Wars minifigures that are some display stands. There’s currently a promotion going on over at LEGO Shop@Home for the Han Solo Mudtrooper (40300) with purchases of $35 or more. It looks like there’s another promotion also running at Barnes & Noble, of all places, for the Kessel Mine Worker (40299). You can get it for free with purchases of $29.95 or more, while supplies last. From the looks over on the image, it looks like the promotion runs until October 18. There’s also reports that you can purchase it individually for $1.27 each. Thanks to Brandon for the heads up!

LEGO Bricktober 2018 Sets Rumored for November Release

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Bricktober 2018 (5005256)

LEGO has been pretty quiet about the Bricktober 2018 sets but according to an image that’s been floating around on social media, it appears the promotion will be starting next month. An email from LEGO Customer Service says the following:

I’m not sure if this email is legit or not because there is a misspelling on the word “available” in the image so don’t get your hopes up just yet. They state that the promotions start in November but the store calendar does not list anything about it unless it is one of the exclusive offers during Black Friday that starts on November 23. The only confirmed thing we know about Bricktober 2018 here in the US is that Barnes & Noble will be carrying the Harry Potter (5005254) set but there are no details on when that is. Toys R Us Canada’s promotions start later this week.

LEGO Overwatch Tracer Minifigure Revealed

LEGO Overwatch Tracer

Today must be a LEGO Overwatch kind of day because a short while after I reported on the Winston teaser, the Overwatch social media channels revealed a physical item from the upcoming sets. In the video, Papa Jeff Kaplan is shown building the Tracer minifigure which then comes alive as a stop-motion with Tracer’s voiceover. This is the first time we’ve seen an actual item from the set and Tracer joins a number of characters that are already confirmed to be in the sets including Widowmaker, Reinhardt, Genji, Soldier 76, Mercy, McCree, and Winston. There are reports that there are at least six set (75970-75975) that are coming early next year.

As I mentioned before, we probably won’t be seeing anything coming out of New York Comic Con this week but we’ll most likely see more at Blizzcon in November. Which other characters do you want to see that haven’t been announced yet?

LEGO Overwatch Winston Teaser

LEGO Overwatch Winston

It’s been a while since we talked about LEGO Overwatch but the minisite has been recently updated with a new splash image. This time it shows some bananas and peanut butter with the phrase “Imagination is the essence of discovery” and this means that our beloved Winston will be joining the LEGO Overwatch lineup. This is now the seventh confirmed character for the theme as he joins Widowmaker, Reinhardt, Genji, Soldier 76, Mercy, and McCree who were teased last month at Gamescom 2018. For his figure, I’m guessing LEGO will be using the same gorilla mold that they’ve been using the past few years but I’m interested to see how they will attach his jump pack.

New York Comic Con is this week however LEGO themselves won’t be attending as they’re not listed as one of the exhibitors at the event so we probably won’t see anything coming out of there. The best bet will be at Blizzcon 2018 in November.
