LEGO San Diego Comic Con 2022 Day 1 Recap

LEGO SDCC 2022

Day 1 of San Diego Comic Con 2022 is in the books and here’s what went on for LEGO on the first day and it wasn’t much. The first thing that everybody has been asking for were the LEGO exclusives. I can confirm along with others that there will be no exclusives this year which was said from a few LEGO people at the booth and it looks like LEGO will be done with SDCC exclusives forever, from what I’ve been told by a source. I’ll just leave it at that and if some info comes out, I’ll report it but for now, that’s all that I will say.

The booth is still in the same spot as usual but there’s much more open area. Instead of play bricks, fans can play the Brick Catcher touch screen game to win a small retail set. From what I saw, the prizes are the small Classic sets like the Creative White Bricks (11012). I could’ve went in to try but waiting 15-20 minutes for a $5 set wasn’t worth my time.

The other side of the booth was the retail shop. You couldn’t really go in to buy but you got a menu sheet to choose what you wanted and they would bring it out from the back. There were some LEGO sets that were on display but nothing new that we haven’t seen before. I’m surpised there weren’t more reveals.

Update: I’ve been told that there were two GWPs, Electro (5002125) polybag with $70 purchase and … Continue

Hocus Pocus – The Sanderson Sisters’ Cottage Announced as Next LEGO Ideas Set

LEGO has announced the winner of the LEGO Ideas Third 2021 Stage Review. Out of the 36 projects that qualified, only one made the cut and it is Hocus Pocus – The Sanderson Sisters’ Cottage by Amber Veyt (TheAmbrinator). As usual, LEGO is still working on the final product design, pricing, and availability so it’ll be at least a year before we see the set. The next review results will be in the fall when they announce the First 2022 Review Stage winner.

No LEGO Listed in San Diego Comic Con 2022 Exclusives Portal

The San Diego Comic Con 2022 exclusives portal has gone live but unfortunately, it doesn’t show any LEGO exclusives yet. In recent years, SDCC has put up a lottery system where you allocate points to whatever exclusives you are interested in and LEGO has usually been on the list but as of this writing, there are none listed for any days. I can’t see any of the exclusives since I am registered as “Press” and it is only open to General Attendees and Professionals but I’ve been told that there aren’t any LEGO list at this time.

I think SDCC is still working on the functionality of the portal as other people are having issues with it. I wouldn’t look too much into it right now as companies are still revealing their products for the show and the portal will still be open until July 15 at 12pm PT.

LEGO Santa’s Front Yard (40484) Christmas in July Promotion Live

It’s Christmas in July on the LEGO Shop as the promotion for the LEGO Santa’s Front Yard (40484) has returned. The promo was originally for Black Friday sales last year and you’ll have to spend $170 to get it. The promo will run from now until July 15, while supplies last. It will also coincide with the upcoming Double VIP Points promotion which runs from July 12-13 so you may want to hold off until then.

LEGO 90th Anniversary Red Brick Building Event at LEGO Stores

LEGO Brand Stores will be holding a building event for a LEGO Red Brick to celebrate the 90th anniversary. On July 20-21 and August 10-11, there will be a limited quantity of sets available on a first come, first served basis. You’ll have to build it there and you can take it home after. It is limited to one per person but I know people will try to bring their whole family there to get multiples so get there early.

LEGO Confirmed for San Diego Comic Con 2022

It’s taken a while but the San Diego Comic Con 2022 exhibit hall floor list has been revealed and we can now confirm that LEGO will be attending this year. As usual, they’ll taking over Booth #2829 which will be filled with new set reveals, life-sized character displays, interactive play areas and the shopping area on the opposite side.

There’s no word yet on any LEGO SDCC 2022 exclusives such as the minifigures or sets but we’ll mostly likely hear about them very soon considering we’re exactly two weeks away from Preview Night. The panel schedules should also be coming out as well so we’ll see if there are any LEGO panels that will happening. Usually there are some kid friendly panels including LEGO Ninjago which has been the regular one the past few years.

After a two year break, I’ll be back again as press and will be covering pretty much all the LEGO news from the show floor as well as trying for the exclusives so stay tuned for that. Unfortunately, I don’t have any more of The Brick Fan brick badges to give out but feel free to find me.

Amazon Prime Day 2022 Coming Soon

Amazon Prime Day 2022 is coming up in less than a week (July 12-13) and if you’ve been shopping with them, you know there will be some LEGO sales spread out during the event. Usually the sales range from 30%-50% off and there are generally there are a few sets that are “desirable” if you collect a certain LEGO theme. Last year we had a few Star Wars, Marvel, and City sets that were decent. I’ll try to list the sets that go on the larger discounts when they become available but just keep an eye out for anything you see that’s on your building/collecting wish list.

Of course, there also plenty of other things that go on sale on Amazon as well. If you’re not a Prime member, you can sign up for a 30 day free trial and you get all the same benefits including free shipping.
