LEGO Classic 90 Years of Play (11021) Promo Video

LEGO has done a neat yet traumatizing promotional ad for the upcoming LEGO Classic 90 Years of Play (11021) set. In the video, you can see LEGO designer George Gilliatt put what appears to be boxes of classic LEGO sets that helped shape what will be in the new LEGO Classic set into a compactor. The shot shows some of the boxes getting crushed but George has confirmed that none of the original boxes were actually harmed. The 1,100 piece 90 Years of Play (11021) set will be available starting on May 1 for $49.99.

The UK LEGO Shop has uploaded the product page for the upcoming 90 Years of Play (11021) and we now have some additional details for the set. Releasing on May 1, it has 1,100 pieces and will retail for £44.99 which will most likely be $49.99 here in North America. The set will feature 15 minibuilds based on past themes such as Fabuland, Bionicle, Classic Space, Castle, Pirates, Trains, and more.

LEGO has revealed three new LEGO Disney Pixar Lightyear sets based on scenes from the upcoming movie. All three sets will be available starting on April 24.

The LEGO Foundation Announces $143 Million Global Competition to Tackle Early Years Development

It has been announced that The LEGO Foundation has launched a $143 million global competition to address early years development. This is the largest public grant that LEGO has provided which goes towards helping challenges that younger kids face. Some of these challenges include lost of access to services and support spurred on by the global pandemic.

Grants will be awarded to those exploring evidence-based innovative solutions to the biggest problems of today such as access to quality early childhood education and care, adequate nutrition, eradication of toxic stress in homes and communities, reduction of violence in homes and communities, protection from pollution, and supporting the social and emotional well-being of the whole family.

LEGO Lunar New Year Free Building Instructions

LEGO has released some new Lunar New Year activities on the LEGO Shop. There are some free downloadable instructions for a Pagoda (104 pieces) and a Lantern (33 pieces). You’ll have to supply your own parts but they can be used for small decorations.

There are also some finger puppet origami instructions for Year of the Tiger as well as for the Year of the Pig. The instructions are the same for both animals but you can decorate whatever animal you prefer.
