LEGO CUUSOO Mini Shop Series Achieves 10000 Supporters

The Mini Shop Series by Pekko has become the latest project to achieve 10000 supporters on LEGO CUUSOO. It is the first project to qualify for the 2013 Summer Review stage. The project was just short of a year on CUUSOO’s website but patience might have just paid off. There are currently several shops that were proposed but LEGO might have to focus on just model when it hits the review stage. The proposed price for the Mini Shop Series is $19.99 and would use the old-school format of the set being on 8×16 baseplates. Another feature is that if LEGO decides to produce more shops, they are able to connect to other shops. Congratulations to Pekko on this great achievement and the amount of support the Mini Shop Series received the past few months. Below is the official LEGO comment on the project.

The Batmobile Tumbler Minifig Scale by BrentWaller now becomes the most supported project on LEGO CUUSOO.

Congratulations on 10,000 Supporters, Pekko!

2013.04.11

You made it! Again, great work and we’re impressed with all of the character you’ve included in your mini shop models.

Congratulations on achieving 10,000 supporters. We now officially advance this project to the Review phase.

What happens now?
This project moves from the Idea stage to the Review stage. A “LEGO Review Board” composed of designers, product managers, and other key team members will examine the idea. We’ll build concept models and determine if the concept meets our high standards for what it takes to be a LEGO product.

Transparent LEGO Chandelier Design Art

Designer extraordinaire, Tobias Tøstesen, has created a 8000 piece floor-to-ceiling chandelier using half cylinder transparent bricks and was displayed during Milan Design Week 2013. Tøstesen opted not to use light bulbs for the chandelier but used the curved bricks to obtain the ever-changing lighting throughout the day. Although the design is makes it look similar to a crystal chandelier, it is still an amazing piece of work nonetheless.

Project Swapfig Needs Your Help on Kickstarter

Drew Maughan, aka SilentMode, has created a nifty LEGO project called Project Swapfig and he needs your support on Kickstarter. If you haven’t heard of Kickstarter, it is a crowd funding site that allows individuals to promote their ideas and hopefully have enough supporters to get their project off the ground.

So what is Project Swapfig? It is a “site where collectors of LEGO minifigures can trade their unwanted figures for ones they want.” Why is this a good idea to support? It’s because there’s not really any good trading sites out there and this is where Project Swapfig bridges the gap for traders even more.

Right now the project is at about 38% supported but it still needs your help to reach the goal of £3,000 but time is of the essence because there is only 6 days left to support it. I believe the goal is still reachable but only if you help spread the word on this awesome project.

Project Swapfig will be launching May 1st whether or not the goal will be reached but the funds will immensely help with the development of the site. There are some bonuses you get if you do pledge your money to support Drew and his creation such as some custom minifigures you won’t find anywhere else. Head on over to Kickstarter to see what you could get as well as demo images of what the site has to offer.
