Yesterday we did our list for our Top 5 LEGO sets of 2025 and now we’re doing our list of best gift with purchase sets. It didn’t seem like it but LEGO released 77 GWPs this year ranging from polybags to small-to-medium sized sets, although a small number of them were for new LEGO Brand Store openings. Some of the more “premium” GWPs were locked into certain sets that you had to buy when they initially released which has gotten some backlash in recent times. This factor did go into my rankings as well as the price requirements to get them.
5. Tribute to Jane Austen’s Books (40766) – June 2025/$150 purchase
I really love the GWPs that LEGO releases that pay tribute to various people with historical significance. The Jane Austen tribute set does a decent job showing her living room in the style of a book and a minifigure of the author. I’m not sure how LEGO came to choose the person to make a set for but it’s a nice addition. The $150 price requirement is in the middle of the road of the 361 piece set.

4. Mini Knight’s Castle (40775) – November 2025/$250 purchase
The Mini Knight’s Castle has 590 pieces and was only available for a very short time as it was a LEGO Insiders Weekend and Black Friday day exclusive. The set features a mini recreation of the Knight’s Castle (6073) from 1984 and the Black Knight’s Castle (6086) from 1992. The $250 price requirement is in line with past Black Friday GWPs and LEGO knows that it is one of the biggest shopping days of the year so we can easily get it, especially with the flagship set releases.

3. Up-scaled Baby Astronaut (40767) – May 2025/$150 purchase
Another set that required a $150 purchase was the Up-scaled Baby Astronaut which continues the line of Up-scaled minifigures. The baby was an easy choice for a gift with purchase set as it fits within the piece count range coming in at 250 pieces.

2. SEGA Genesis Controller (40769) – September 2025/$130 purchase
As I mentioned in my last post, I’m all about nostalgia and the SEGA Genesis Controller hits me like a freight train. The 260 piece set features the iconic look of the controller with an Easter egg on the back showing a microscale version of the Green Hill Zone from Sonic the Hedgehog. When I was a kid, I had a choice between the Super Nintendo and SEGA Genesis and I went with the latter. I played with it until the mid-90’s when I got the PlayStation and retired the Genesis.

1. Disney Classic Animation Scenes (40774) – October 2025/$130 purchase
It seems that LEGO likes to backload their better GWPs for the second half of the year and my favorite one for 2025 is the Disney Classic Animation Scenes. The 270 piece set features a retro TV with the Fantasyland Castle opening and you can change out the scenes with Andy’s Room from Toy Story and Pride Rock from The Lion King. It also comes with minifigures of Woody and Simba. All of that for only a $130 purchase is a no-brainer for me. The set as also available at the Disney Store early and I also heard they were selling leftovers for $20 a few weeks ago.

Honorable Mentions Tie – Smeagol & Deagol (40761) & Type-15 Shuttlepod (40768)
There were actually two sets that didn’t make my final list but were also some of my favorite GWPs. The Smeagol & Deagol was only available when you purchased The Shire (10354) when it initially released back in April. LEGO did bring it back again in September for another run. The set features the opening scene from The Return of the King where Smeagol and Deagol fight over the One Ring which eventually started Gollum’s storyline.
The other set that I really liked but didn’t make the final cut was the Type-15 Shuttlepod (40768). It was only available during Black Friday when you purchased the new LEGO Icons Star Trek: U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D (10356). What’s funny was that the Shuttlepod was still available however the Enterprise was temporarily sold out after one day so there was pretty much no way to get it. It should’ve been a 1:1 correlation but it didn’t work out that way for some reason. I have a feeling that LEGO may bring it back in the future. The The GWP features the Onizuka and also includes a minifigure of Ensign Ro Laren.
