Not sure what is up with these sets.
Some are available now in the US
On the website it lists them as being available since the 1st December for the US.
For other regions it lists the release as the 1st January.
I noticed Lego does weird things like that. I recall the past summer superhero waves were released June 1st overseas and the US had to wait until August 1st to get them.
I was able to order all the Lego Batman Movie sets while they were all listed as coming soon. Since then shop@home updated their site.
Four LBM sets were moved up from their intended January 1st release in the US. Target has actually had them for several weeks, but they weren’t scheduled to be shelved until this weekend. I was able to get all four by just feeding them DCPI numbers so they could pull them from the back room, and I had eight LBM minifigs out on our display at Detroit Festival of Trees which just closed tonight.
But, ever since The LEGO Movie premiered, LEGO sets have seen a significant surge in demand, to the point that if they hold true to their intended release dates on everything, shelves tend to look kinda bare leading up to Christmas. This is at least the second year (possibly third) where they’ve purposefully moved up release dates on selected themes (in the US, at least) just to keep the pipeline full.
Anyone know if these sets will be released before Christmas in the UK?
UK site lists the release date as January 1st… so unfortunately it seems unlikely to have a UK release officially before then. Though it may be possible that a few appear on shelves early.
Is the Notorious Lowrider set the first Batman headliner-related set ever to not have a Batman minifigure?
The UCS Batmobile (not the Tumbler) from the Batman theme was the first in 2006, because it had zero minifigs. Robin’s Scuba Jet: Attack of the Penguin in 2008 was the first minifig set without a Batman minifig. In the DC Superheroes theme, there are polybags for the Batmobile (2012), Robin & Redbird Cycle (2013), Tumbler (2014), Batwing (2014), Joker Bumper Car (2015), Mr. Freeze (2016), and the BvS Batmobile (2016) that all either have no minifig, or a single minifig that’s not Batman. And of course there’s that Batpod promo set that has no minifigs, and the Brickheadz set with Batman and Joker (Batman, yes, but no Batman minifig), and a Mighty Micros set that has Robin vs Bane. But this is totally the 13th Batman-themed set with no Batman minifig.
Though actually, the Mighty Micros set has no form of Batman branding that I can identify. The Brickheadz set is categorized under Justice League by Bricklink, but it does have clear Batman branding on the bottom of the boxfront. I really have no idea about the various polybags, if they have the “Batman” subtheme branding anywhere or not, but Bricklink lists them all under DCS subthemes Batman II or Batman III, as is the Batpod.
Wow thanks Purple Dave! I stand corrected! Thanks for the information.
