The Natural History Museum Achieves 10,000 Supporters on LEGO Ideas

The Natural History Museum by tjspencer1 becomes the latest project to hit 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas. There have been many modular builds on LEGO CUUSOO/Ideas but this project has the subject type that people could really get behind and it could be an official set if it passes the review stage. What’s cool about it is that it’s not based on any particular real-life museum so there’s no licensing issues (that I’m aware of) and it has a cool science background to it which LEGO does like to see judging from previous official LEGO CUUSOO/Ideas sets.

The Natural History Museum now joins the Avengers Helicarrier, the Labyrinth Marble Maze, the F7A, and The Goonies 30th Anniversary Inferno in the Third 2014 Review Stage.

Definitely inspired by London’s Natural History Museum (the page is tagged with London – you’ve got the overall architectural style, that particular type of dinosaur in the main entry hall, the logo). But it’s not a direct build of it, no, so they’re eking by I guess. Love it regardless.

Personally I’d prefer the Avengers Hellicarrier to win, given DC has a UCS Dark Knight style Batmobile the idea of a UCS Marvel Hellicarrier (Even if its scaled down) is still one of the best ideas in recent years being a main focus of the Avengers/Marvel universe.

We already effectively have an affordable museum styled set with the research institute that was made the other year to promote female lego figures.

The F7A might be a good idea, but considering the game and item its based on don’t get released till the earliest of 2016/2017 it would be silly of Lego to make a product that’s target audience is an unreleased game.

The Labryinth Maze has potential, but it would only be for those interested in solo-play, given its not an interactive experience, unlike playing with a Lego set with figures, you cant get a friend to play the labyrinth maze game with you unless you took turns I guess.

The Inferno is mostly riding off the fans of ‘The Goonies’ and to be honest as someone who has seen the film a few times, the boat is one of the least memorable aspects that screams ‘Goonies’ to me. It looks like a generic pirate ship, which while probably accurate, doesn’t entice me into wanting the set.

So, the Hellicarrier is my most hoped for set.

I love it. This would make a fine place to put my Research Institute set inside of.
