Amazon doesn’t change its prices like this. This was almost certainly a 3rd party seller who had some limited stock that he listed below the Amazon price. Amazon will front the lowest price on an item but doesn’t seem to take into account shipping. These sellers usually have a low list price but inflated shipping to make up the diff (like many eBay sellers). Amazon’s prices generally track the other major retailers, i.e. Target has certain sets reduced right now and Amazon matches their price.
