LEGO Polybag Promotions Heading to The Daily Mail

Brick Fanatics is reporting that The Daily Mail newspaper will be giving out FREE LEGO polybags with their paper on upcoming dates in June. Back in March, LEGO’s partnership with The Sun newpaper ended and UK LEGO fans were fearing that there will not be any more LEGO sets being given along with their papers.

In this new promotion, you will be able to get the LEGO The Hobbit Gandalf at Dol Guldur Polybag (30213) on Saturday, June 29th and the LEGO Creator Little Car (30183) on Sunday, June 30th. There’s no additional information about the promotion at this time but I’m sure Richard over at Brick Fanatics will have the news as soon as it becomes available.

The polybag contains five pieces. The cape is not protected by any cardboard. The design of Jor-El looks very similar to Superman with some subtle differences. The whole costume is a little bit darker blue than his son’s. However, the “S” emblem on the middle of the chest is of brown. His cape is also brown colored instead of the red that superman has. Jor-El has a single-sided head with a serious expression. He has a full beard that is brown and grey. The hairpiece is also brown.

The Jor-El minifigure is a very nice addition to any LEGO collection. Although the design is similar to Superman, the differences he has makes him a unique minifigure. Again, the minifigure is a bonus exclusive when you spend over $75 at LEGO stores and Shop@Homeicon. The summer wave sets of many LEGO themes have been released so it can be pretty easy to get a couple of the polybags.

LEGO The Lord of the Rings Father’s Day Challenge

008

LEGO is having a new building contest called the LEGO The Lord of the Rings Father’s Day Challenge. The objective is to build your favorite scene from the Lord of the Rings movies with your dad. Take a picture and submit it to the gallery and you are entered to win some great prizes. Judges will base the scene on the following criteria: creativity 40%, originality 30%, and chosen The Lord of the Rings theme 30%. You will need a valid LEGO ID to enter. The contest ends at 11:59:59 PM EDT on July 31st, 2013.

Looking at the rules for the contest, you have to create a scene from the Lord of the Rings and not from The Hobbit movie but that doesn’t mean that you can’t use parts from the Hobbit sets to make the LOTR scene.

1 Grand Prize – Exclusive 19″ brick model of Gandalf designed by a LEGO Master Builder. Approximate retail value: $2,000.00 USD

10 Runner Up Prizes – Entire assortment of LEGO Lord of the Rings sets signed by LEGO designers. Approximate retail value: $400.00 USD
