LEGO Star Wars R3-M2 (40268) Polybag Found

LEGO Star Wars R3-M2 (40268)

It looks like 2017 is the year of the astromech droids as far as LEGO Star Wars polybags are concerned. There has been a new R3-M2 (40268) polybag that’s the traditional minifigure version that’s been found in a Romanian monobrand store. Upon some research, R3-M2 is from Rogue One.

If you look closely, you can see that it’s on it’s own stand and has a plaque card on the back with the name tag appearing to be a sticker. There’s even a Technic pin on the side of the stand that suggests there could be more polybags like this in the future.

I have a feeling that the R3-M2 (40268) will be this year’s May the 4th polybag promotion.

There is a 0% chance that this will be the May the fourth polybag. It has an ugly design on the front, it is missing the MTF logo that last year’s had, and it is more of a ‘set’ polybag than a minifig one because of the extra bricks.

Thank goodness you’re right! I was worried!

This reminds me of the forbidden minifig sets ( http://brickset.com/sets/3340-1/Emperor-Palpatine-Darth-Maul-and-Darth-Vader-Minifig-Pack-Star-Wars-#1 )LEGO produced early on but were supposedly forced to stop making because Hasbro has the action Figure license.

Wonder how LEGO is getting away with it this time?

You realize LEGO has been releasing polybags that contain nothing but minifigures for years, right? This one is no different, only the inclusion of a stand. I’m sure they are exempted from “action figure” status because their intended use is as giveaways, rather than outright products to be sold at retail.

Has anyone else noticed the connector peg? It makes me wonder if this is one of several new polybags…
