As I mentioned earlier today, the LEGO Double VIP Points promotion is now going on at LEGO Stores and on Shop@Home. I’ve been told by a pretty reliable source that a variety of direct-to-consumer LEGO sets are now retiring soon even though they’re not listed online. If you’ve been holding off on some of these sets, now would be a perfect time to jump on them since we exactly know when they will be going away. This is only a partial list as there could be more D2C sets that perhaps are listed as retiring soon as well.
The most notable one is the LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Batman Classic TV Series – Batcave (76052) because it’s actually on sale as well for $215.99 ($54 off).
LEGO Marvel Super Heroes The SHIELD Helicarrier (76042) – $349.99
LEGO Star Wars TIE Fighter (75095) – $199.99
LEGO Creator Palace Cinema (10232) – $149.99
The Simpsons House (71006) – $199.99
The Simpson The Kwik-E-Mart (71016) – $199.99

Sad that the Batcave set is retiring the same year that Adam West died.
Maybe they’ll release some sort of polybag with the classic Batman figure? It would be a respectful surprise. Then again, Lego did absolutely nothing for Carrie Fisher.
None of these are really surprising though. Never expected the Bat Cave to stay out forever, nor any of the other sets. Palace Cinema was likely due to retire by end of this year anyway. Hardly a secret. I just think LEGO wants this info out to try to sell off stock before they have to discount any of these sets (like they had to when the Pet Shop was discounted last Christmas)
Picked up the Bat Cave yesterday upon seeing it on sale. Manager told me about the retirement announcement. He said they had people waiting at the door before they opened and had sold 6 that day. Bonus that it was on sale, double VIP points, and they gave me a canvas bag, too, even though the promotion had officially ended. A good day.
Just got the Batcave today. Can’t beat 20% off, double VIP points, and a free canvas tote! It’s a shame this set doesn’t seem to have sold too well, most likely a poor combination of it being quite niche and also relatively expensive for a Super Heroes set. But I really love the minifigures and Batmobile.
