The other June 2026 Chinese Traditional Festival set that we’ll be checking out is the Ancient Moon-Gazing Inn (80121). It has 1,530 pieces and retails for $129.99.
Minifigures
There are 9 minifigures in the set which includes Su Dongpo, farmer, inn owner, chef, teahouse owner, musician, businessman, and 2 other local people.
Su Dongpo is the main minifigure of the set. He wears a sand blue traditional robe. His double-sided head shows him with a smile on one side and a quizzical look on the other. His accessory is a calligraphy brush.
The farmer has on the old school workers outfit with the towel wrapped around the neck. He has a bearded smile for his facial expression.
The inn owner has a sand blue dress with a light turquoise cardigan. Her double-sided head shows her with a smile on one side and an angry expression on the other. Her accessory is a stickered abacus.
The chef wears a green robe with a brown waist apron. Her double-sided head shows her with a smile on one side and a smirk on the other. Her accessory is a butcher’s knife.
The teahouse owner has a nicely decorated darker green robe. His double-sided head shows him with a smile on one side and a normal look on the other.
The musician has a very pretty purple dress that you may see during this time period. Her double-sided head shows smiles on both sides.
The businessman has a darker red outfit with a wrapping around the torso that holds a map. His double-sided head shows a stern look on one side and a smile on the other. His accessory is a pair of chopsticks.
The restaurant worker has a tan outfit with brown pants. The torso shows a towel that goes over his shoulder. His double-sided head shows him with a smirk on one side and a scared expression on the other. his accessory is a bowl of noodles.
The last minifigure is a young child that wears a colorful outfit. Their double-sided head shows smiles on both sides. Their accessory is also a pair of chopsticks.
Build
The first part of the build is a little well next to a tree. There’s also a cart that is filled with daikon. A white horse is also included but it doesn’t attach to the cart. There are some pins and connection spots that they tree and well can attach to the main build or you can leave it as a standalone build.
The Moon-Gazing Inn has two stories that is not just the inn but also includes a couple of bedrooms, a restaurant, and the teahouse. To make it easier to access the interiors, you can remove the roofs and the buildings themselves.
The biggest part of the inn in terms of area is the restaurant. The counter has a couple of printed round tiles for mooncakes. On the wall, there’s a small menu of silky chicken noodles, Dongpo pork (braised pork belly), and dumplings. Next to the counter are some wine barrels.
The other side of the restaurant has three tables filled with tea and dumplings. At the corner, there’s a hidden trapdoor that is filled with gold bars and a book of poems and folk songs.
Inside the kitchen, there’s a simple kitchen with a stone oven and a wooden chopping board. Hanging on the back wall is a fish, chili, and some green vegetable.
Across the restaurant is a small teahouse named the Qingle Tea House. The shelves are filled with various boxes and jars of tea. The counter has two tea bowls.
The left side of the restaurant has some stairs that lead up to the second floor which has the upper level of the tea house and two bedrooms.
The tea house has a little sitting area to relax with the musician sings nearby. The top of the tea house has three sets of red lantern pairs hanging up.
The first bedroom is a fairly plain one with a bed and a bamboo tree artwork hanging above it.
The other bedroom has a bed as well as a table and a small cabinet and hanging on the wall is another classic Chinese artwork.
At one end the bedroom hallway, there’s a little bedding area for a cat with also has bowls of food and water. Hanging on the wall is a picture of the famous Chinese tiger artwork. The other end has a sitting area with a poem on the table.
Results
Every year, I always look forward to the LEGO Chinese Traditional Festival sets and these June sets were a surprise since they already did some at the beginning of the year. The Ancient Moon-Gazing Inn (80121) goes back to the sets telling a story, this one with Dongpo Su. The build was enjoyable and I don’t really have any negatives besides the stickers.
