Next up on our reviews of the LEGO One Piece sets, we take a look at the Gum-Gum Fruit (75647). It has 482 pieces and retails for $69.99.
Minifigures
There are two minifigures in the set, young Monkey D. Luffy and older Luffy. Young Luffy is seen wearing his white anchor shirt with his double-sided head showing an angry expression on one side and him chewing the Gum-Gum Fruit on the other side. His accessory is a small brick-built Gum-Gum Fruit.
Older Luffy is in his usual outfit that we see in a majority of the show. He has a red vest and dual-printed blue shorts. His arms are the long stretched ones which can’t be removed. His double-sided head shows him with a determined look on one side and a happy smile on the other. His hair is molded on to the straw hat.
Build
The build features a larger scale Gum-Gum Fruit which are made up a lot of the new purple petal pieces with spirals along with dishes and sloped bricks. At the top of the fruit is the stem.
The top of the fruit can pop off to reveal a small part of Partys Bar in Windmill Village. This is the scene where young Luffy finds the Gum-Gum Fruit and eats it. It doesn’t show that much but One Piece fans will know exactly what this scene shows.
Lastly we have the display stand for the Devil Fruit. It has wooden outer box and a lime green spot to hold the fruit. One side of the wooden plank has a spot for the printed Gum-Gum Fruit sign as well as a spot of Luffy to stand on.
Results
Although I like the set, the LEGO One Piece Gum-Gum Fruit (75647) a mixed bag. The overall look of it is spot on and I like the hidden scene that shows the start of Luffy’s adventures. The display stand is a nothing too special but it does its job.
One downside of the set is that both the Gum-Gum Fruit and the base are repetitive builds. You’ll be building similar sections on both to get the final result but it does look good at the end.
The price of the set is also really high for what you get. This is because the larger molded pieces on the Gum-Gum and two minifigures. A 20%-30% discount on the set would be the best time to buy it as $70 is just way too high.
