The upcoming LEGO Ideas #008 Research Institute (21110) has been finalized by LEGO and Ellen Kooijman, aka Alatariel Elensar, has shared the first official images and her thoughts of the new set on her blog. From the looks of it, LEGO has recreated many of the features that the original design had on the LEGO Ideas project. The set will be avaialble in August and will probably retail for $19.99.

It’s cool, but i was hoping LEGO would add more maybe tweak some things to make the set look better.
I agree. It looks good, but could have been a little more interesting. My concern is with the minifigures, which don’t have any new prints and don’t really look appropriately dressed for their occupations, except maybe the chemist. I thought the whole point of this set was to introduce interesting, realistic new female minifigs, not just rehash existing ones.
I agree with the prints. I would have liked to see new printing on the figs. The chemist is the only new print.
For me, it just seems like 3 Lego City polybags; nice when its free with a Lego purchase or $3-4 in the line at Target. I wish it was more fleshed out idea …
